Oscoda lost a heartbreaker to the Big Dipper Conference Champions from St Helen - Charlton Heston Academy 33-34. Oscoda was led by Randey Eschenburg with 11 points, Hunter Vincenty-Cole finished with 10, Dustin Filipiak - 7, Crue Weisenstein - 3, & Reed Curley had 2.
"We led most of the 2nd half and down to the last 45 seconds, and an unfortunate turnover and then a 2nd chance point off of an offensive rebound put Heston up with seconds to go. A late shot and then an offensive rebound by the Owls just missed as the clock expired. I'm so proud of my guys, they have worked really hard the last few weeks and went out playing their best basketball. We have battled turnovers and 2nd chance points all season and have worked hard to minimize them. Both got us late as we tried to close out the game, but they certainly weren't the only 2 throughout the game. My seniors laid it out on the line as did all of our guys and that's all that I can ask for. Randey Eschenburg, Dustin Filipiak, and Tyler Kretchman will be graduating, and we will miss them tremendously. We have 7 guys coming back next year from this year's team, 4 which are underclassmen that have gotten a ton of experience. Our future is bright as long as we are willing to put the work in during the off season, we will hopefully be in the position again next season."
