WANTED: For the 2026 season, Hang Glide Wisconsin is in need of an Aero Tow Tandem Instructor, or a Dragonfly Pilot… full or part time.

Whitewater, Wisconsin is a small quaint college town. It’s also the home base of Hang Glide Wisconsin. We offer tandems Thursday-Monday at 9am or 2 hours before sunset, June-September annually. We also offer lessons and have a small training hill.

The Whitewater Hang Gliding Club is also home here. Members are friendly, welcoming, and often found flying together.

A beautiful moment captured of Pinto, a young bald eagle, from Saturday’s release. Rehab often starts with the finders like Gina, Chad, and Hannah Johnson, who discovered Pinto grounded in their backyard. They did everything right, keeping a watchful eye and contacting us immediately. Assisting Dianne at the release, the Johnsons watched Pinto take strong flight. Immediately afterwards Nova the adult eagle who adopted Pinto during recovery also took flight, . We will be sharing more spectacular photos of their journey, stay tuned. Stories like Pinto’s remind us how crucial finders are in giving wildlife a second chance. Photo by Brian Weins

❓How do we know if the weather’s going to be good for a kite event?

Truth is—we don’t! 🌦️ Mother Nature has a mind of her own. At Great American Kites, we’ve learned not to put too much stock in long-range forecasts. A “rainy, no-wind” prediction a week out can do a full 360 and turn into a sunny, breezy, perfect windy kite festival day. 🪁💨

That’s why we don’t check the forecast until about 24 hours out. It keeps us flexible, ready, and excited for whatever magic the sky has in store.

So if you’re watching the weather with us—don’t panic too early. The best kite days often come as the best surprises. 💙
