First day of the Whitehouse Tennis Clinic in the books! We had 40 campers show up for both sessions, and boy did we have a good time. Lots of energy, lots of learning, and lots of awards given!

Our coaches did a great job with the kiddos. We truly appreciate the work they put into this. We are ready for the next 6 weeks!

Tuesdays and Thursdays!
2 Sessions a day!
Morning Session 8-10am
Evening Session 6-8pm

Parents, just bring a $10 and sign in. That’s all!
Kiddos need to have a water bottle and their own racket, if possible (a cheap one from Walmart/Academy could work).

The Whitehouse Junior High had its first annual Bring Anything But a Racket day. Shout out to Evelyn Finley and Hedy Scott for the awesome idea!

These crazy kids got to showcase their creativity. We saw things from ukuleles, to fly swatters, to a can of Axe body spray, to family heirlooms (sorry to any parents who didn’t approve those 😅), to the tested and unforgettable cutting board, equipped with a perfectly-sized handle to go forehand or backhand.

We played the infamous game of jail. Shoutout to our winners, LILAH SANTANA with the oar and CONNOR GREEN with the square frying pan. Then we broke off for some four square, some 1v1, or some intense doubles. Might I also add that we saw better form today than we did all year. Not so sure how. Either way, we love this group of players.

Cant wait to make this a Junior High tradition! Till next year ✊🏼

What. A. Night.

Whitehouse Tennis celebrated the Year End with our annual Spring Banquet last night. We watched our sad, yet hilarious, slideshow, had our players get up and speak (because no one wants to hear the coaches more than they already do), then gave out awards.

Yes, we laughed a lot. Yes, we cried a little (especially McNew). And yes, we went a little over time, like usual, to have the closing janitorial staff wonder when they can code out. But the memories from last night are some we will cherish forever. This team is such a close knit unit.

We heard some great (and interesting) memories and takeaways from our freshmen, sophomores, and juniors. Then, we got to ride the emotional roller coaster of hearing from our Seniors one last time. And no. After 9 years, it hasn’t gotten easier. Our seniors have been through so much and will leave a legacy that will be hard to live up to.

Congratulations to all of our award winners! It has been truly deserved. Can’t wait to run this show back next year. Until then, let’s continue to grow and to represent well. GO CATS!

Let’s give it up for our Best Prep Nominees for this year! Seniors Kaitlynn Cook and Kyle Willis (unable to attend the banquet). To even be nominated for this is an accomplishment. We, coaches, collectively agreed that these two players represent Whitehouse Tennis in an incredible way that needs to be bragged on. You guys deserve more than a little spotlight. We are happy to call you ours!

Y’all.. Stanton Smith and Higgins were awesome yesterday! Tons of energy. Sometimes a little too much (and it’s hard to have more energy than me and Coach McNew)🤣😅

Yes, we gave away even more Free Clinic Day prizes. Yes, we are sad we didn’t get to see Stanton’s 5th grade, but maybe we’ll catch you guys at the Summer clinics! And no, we did NOT get locked out of the building this time. 🙏

Also, sidenote..
I don’t know what you guys have been doing over at Stanton and Higgins, but these kids know how to hit the ball! We even had several tell us they were already taking lessons 👀

Two fun facts about this one:

1) We were down about half of our team for this tournament and managed to still take care of business in most of the A draws.
2) 3 of our 2nd place finishers was due to playing another Whitehouse team in the finals.

A great end to a historic JH season. Now players of the day:

Johan Rucky - for one of the best performances we’ve seen, all season, in a dominant 8-1 win over a very high level player today.

Lilliana Adams - for competing as a top girl on our lineup all year and ending her season with a much deserved Gold medal (with the help of her awesome partner, Lilah, who won player of the day recently)!

Coach Mac ‘n Cheese and Coach McNewdle went to Brown Elementary and Cain Elementary today to play some tennis with the 4th and 5th graders.

We played the game “Jail”, where they could showcase their awesome forehands, then we gave away so many “Free Clinic Day” Flyers we couldn’t keep count. Really wish we could’ve given more, but CONGRATULATIONS to the winners (we sadly didn’t get pictures with all of them.. sorry)! Oh, and we coaches also got stuck on the playground at Brown Elementary because the only way in was PE and they were having a dance party so awesome that no one could hear us knocking. We were rescued by the awesome Mrs. Estrella! What a day.

Lastly, a HUGE shoutout to Coach Roberts and Coach Franklin for helping us put this on with their PE classes. We tell every school that they are in a competition with one another for the “most respectful” classes, and these two schools have done an AMAZING job.

Another fun day with our Junior High team at the Tyler Legacy tournament. Great matches, several upsets 👀, but maybe a bit too many losses in our medal matches. However, some high level tennis was played, as always, and we still walked away with some great results!
