It's time to enroll in hunter education so you're ready to go when the seasons open! Classes fill up fast, especially in the busiest times of spring and early fall.

Anyone born on or after Jan. 1, 1973, must obtain certification in hunter education to purchase a hunting license. Those under age 18 must successfully complete a course with an in-person, hands-on component, such as the traditional “hunter” course or the blended “hunter internet field day” course, which combines online learning with a field day featuring hands-on safety skills.

Anyone seeking spring turkey bonus harvest authorizations may purchase them next week. Each turkey hunting zone has its own sale date, so make sure to know where you’re planning to hunt. Sales begin at 10 a.m. on Monday, March 16, and run through midnight each day.

– Zone 1: Monday, March 16
– Zone 2: Tuesday, March 17
– Zone 3: Wednesday, March 18
– Zone 4: Thursday, March 19
– Zone 5: Friday, March 20
– Zone 6: No bonus harvest authorizations available
– Zone 7: Friday, March 20

Any remaining bonus authorizations will go on sale starting at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 21.

The DNR highly recommends that hunters create their username and password before Monday, as they will not be able to make their bonus harvest authorizations purchase before they have created them, which may slow down their purchase experience.

All spring turkey hunters must have a valid spring turkey license, a 2026 wild turkey stamp and a valid turkey harvest authorization. If they have not already done so, hunters must purchase their spring turkey license and stamp authorization when purchasing a bonus harvest authorization.
