Your Girl’s Spiritual DNA

Your girl’s God-designed potential is her “Spiritual DNA.” 🧬

At its core are her Natural Talents—but it is wrapped with unique enablements—her Distinguishing Characteristics—that are the evidence of God’s ongoing work in her life. These traits combine to define her.

As she heads back to school, use the collection of components below to help her take a positive personal inventory. She has uniqueness in the following areas:

▫️obstacles

▫️personality

▫️education

▫️mentors

▫️heritage

▫️resources

▫️network

▫️résumé

▫️alliances

▫️opportunities

▫️experiences

All the elements of her God-designed potential have value; some of them have exceptional value. Her Natural Talents are at the top of that heap. Can she list them?

Four of your Distinguishing Characteristics—from among the 12 above—are most prominent; within those four areas, your most significant distinctives are present.

These are the most peculiar, stand-out nuances of her personal make-up. Within each of those four, have her make a Top 3 list. Tell her to consider these carefully.

Help her transfer all of these elements of her spiritual DNA onto a one-page summary or collage.

This exploration of her God-Designed Potential is critically important in her discovery of her Career and Kingdom Assignments. The goal is to give her access to a virtual MRI of her eternally-existent person.

She was made to serve God in a way that is unique to her!

Remember,

“For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God has prepared in advance for us to do.” Ephesians 2:10

Help her take time to complete this exercise. The results will be the basis for some scholarly navigation, as she moves toward maximizing her academic life, to enable an even greater facilitation of her Kingdom life. 🤍

QUIZ: Do you know how many selfies are uploaded to social media sites on a WEEKLY basis? 17 MILLION.

An additional 22 percent admitted to feeling worse about themselves when their photos were ignored. Also, their self-image really took a hit when they didn’t get the number of likes and comments they expected.

"When your toddler is screaming or your teenager is rebelling, ask God for wisdom first. Have a conversation with your Heavenly Father and He will give you wisdom for your life and leadership at home.

Challenge: When you need help understanding your life, when you need patience for your girl when she gets under your skin, it’s time to pray. Don’t turn to the advice column or psychologist first.

Action Step: Instead, ask God for a dose of wisdom.

Scripture tells us again and again that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. That fear doesn’t mean you’re scared to talk to God as if He were waiting with a lightning bolt to zap you. The fear of the Lord is a deep awe and respect for His name.

You recognize that He is God, and you are not (and neither is the phone in your pocket).

Our phones are becoming increasingly important. A global study by Cisco Systems suggests that nine of ten people under the age of thirty suffer from “nomophobia” which is the fear of being disconnected from our gadgets. We rely on the data on our phones to make decisions from where we should eat to where we should send our kids to school. I’m not saying it’s wrong to Google information. I’m just saying we must be careful to depend on God first, not technology."

"Consider this verse above from Psalm 121:1-2.

Today’s mom, if she were being honest, might find the following statement more of a reality:

“I turn my eyes down to my phone – where does my help come from? My help comes from Google, the holder of all information.”

In this screen-driven world, we can get our wires crossed. The answers to your family’s problems aren’t found on homepages or search engines. The answers you need are found in the ancient pages of God’s Word and by speaking to the source of wisdom Himself.

✨CONFIDENCE CHALLENGE✨

Look, I know I'm supposed to be the one to instill confidence in my daughter (along with about a million other qualities and skills), but does the whole thing seem totally overwhleming sometimes or what?

It's almost too easy to get lost along the way with everything I'm juggling. Hectic work schedules, personal + professional commitments, and my to do list. I never feel like I have enough time or the right plan for guiding her . . . for actually supporting her in the way she needs to be supported so she learns to tackle everything life is going to throw at her.

A while back, I finally hit my breaking point. Worry and stressing over who she is becoming forced me to stop everything and start changing our family culture.
