It is with heavy hearts that we announce that The Last Best Ride 2026 has been cancelled. While finalizing critical components of the event, the team was presented with several challenges that led us to the conclusion that we would not be able to fully implement and safely execute the race this year. All registered participants who paid registration fees will receive a FULL REFUND, including processing fees. You do not need to take any action — refunds will be processed automatically over the coming days. Read the full statement available via the link in our bio.

🚨 VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR TLBR RACE WEEKEND! 🚨

We’re getting ready for an incredible weekend of gravel racing, but we still need a few more helping hands to make it happen!

We’re specifically looking for:

🚩 Course Marshals
🚩 Flaggers

These roles are critical for keeping riders safe and ensuring a smooth race experience for everyone. Whether you’re a cycling enthusiast, supporting a racer, or just want to be part of the action, we’d love to have you on the team.

The countdown is on for The Last Best Ride 2026, and the entire Whitefish community is gearing up for an incredible race weekend. But we need your help!

Are you traveling with a rider? Taking a year off from racing? Looking for a meaningful way to support TLBR and give back? If so, we’d love to have you join our volunteer team.

By volunteering, you’ll help make race day a success while supporting the Barbara Mansfield Scholarship, established by local cyclist Jess Cerra () to provide college opportunities for deserving young women with financial need.

Volunteer opportunities begin Saturday, July 25, and range from a few hours to a full day of cheering on riders and helping behind the scenes.

As a thank-you, 2026 volunteers will receive: • A complimentary dinner at our volunteer meeting during race week • An exclusive volunteer swag bag • A meal voucher for race day

Can’t attend the volunteer meeting? No problem—you’ll still receive your swag bag and all the information you need for your volunteer role.

There’s something super special about kicking off TLBR weekend around a table full of great food, quality conversation, and an inspiring group of women. 💛

Our Ladies Brunch has become one of our favorite pre-race traditions—a chance to connect, share stories, calm pre-race nerves, and celebrate the incredible women who make up our gravel community.

This year, we’re especially grateful for our friends at , who are generously donating all of the delicious goodies for the 2026 Ladies Brunch. For years now, Fleur has helped make this gathering feel extra special.

🚨 IMPORTANT TLBR 2026 ANNOUNCEMENTS 🚨

1. 💧 Hydration Policy Change 💧  Water is officially banned on race day. Approved hydration sources now include:
- Hotdog water
- Tears (self-supplied)
- Whatever’s in that mystery cooler at Aid Station 3

2. 🚲 Official Rule Update 🚲
Due to overwhelming feedback, all riders are now required to use E-bikes. Anyone caught pedaling too hard will receive a time penalty for “excessive enthusiasm.”

3. 📍 Course Change Notice 📍
We heard the course was “too scenic” and “not selective enough.” After careful consideration, the course has been simplified:
➡️ 100 laps of the hike-a-bike Bighorn Scramble. That’s it.

4. 🍌 Aid Station Revamp 🍌  We’re upgrading nutrition this year:
- Gels replaced with ketchup packets
- Hand-foraged trail mix (mostly raisins, possibly not)
- Warm LaCroix that lost its will to sparkle
- PB&Js now DIY (ingredients scattered across a table)
- A handful of gravel (for texture)

5. 🏆 Podium Changes 🏆
We’re moving away from traditional categories. New podiums include:
🥇 Best mid-race existential crisis
🥈 Strongest “I’m totally fine” face
🥉 Most dramatic flat tire

From behind-the-scenes hero to absolute long-course crusher, you do it all. Your dedication to TLBR and the nonprofit that powers this wild day in Whitefish means more than most people will ever see — the early mornings, the endless details, the steady leadership that keeps the wheels turning.

And then you go out and RIP the long course like it’s just another Saturday spin. 💥
