Musky growth per year?

Musky grow very fast during their first few years of life, reaching about 10 to 12 inches in their first year and slowing down significantly as they mature into adults.

Growth Breakdown by Age:

Year 1: Grow rapidly to about 10 to 12 inches long.

Year 2: Reach roughly 18 to 22 inches as growth remains fast.

Years 3 to 5: Continue a fast pace, hitting around 30 inches by age 5.

Years 6 to 9: Growth slows to about 3 to 4 inches per year, reaching 40 inches around age 9 (with females growing faster than males).

Age 12 and Beyond: Growth slows to almost nothing annually, with trophy fish over 50 inches typically taking 12 years or more.

Factors Affecting Growth

1. Food availability: Plentiful forage fish like perch or shad speed up growth.

2. S*x: Female musky grow faster and larger than males, especially after age 5.

DIY Crankbait rear hook hanger weight. Every time I cast that brand new lure it doubled back on the line and ruined that fishing spot opportunity. So maybe this idea will solve it. A little more weight ​at the tail.
Instructions in picture. But basically take a 2 to 4" strand of wire. Tie a knot in each end. Run it through the rear hook hanger above the split ring for the hook. Crimp it with knots positioned in center of it. And attempt to solder the crimp perm shut. Or thread tie it shut.

PS. Or perhaps this. That wire should be tied together, but so the tag ends of that tie face back. The split shot still crimped there. But a small piece of wire shrink wrap placed over the split shot and shrunk so the split shot can't loosen and fall off. Could use more than one split shot. They might create a rattle attraction with the hook too.

That double back trebles caught on the line is a real pet peeve of mine.
