AND THEN READ THIS: new students are often afraid to try Belly Dancing for a variety of reasons: the negative (and incorrect) connotations associated with the dance, there’s nobody to try a class with, or they harbor a negative body image. Throw all of those excuses out the window, and allow yourself to have fun for just an hour a week! Raq-On Dance takes pride in its positive, supportive atmosphere. New and experienced dancers of all ages, shapes, sizes, and abilities are welcomed into a warm, encouraging environment that promotes higher self-esteem, positive body image, friendship, community, and fun. Hello All!

I've been posting more frequently on Amity Alize.

I am fortunate now that I own my studio space that I don't have to spend as much time hustling and marketing or running as many classes per week. Our mailing list and my personal dance page is where it is at.

We are still active and doing things, it's simply a gift to not have to be on social media as much. Join us anytime for scheduled classes, or ask for a private class or party anytime!

Fall class sneak peak:

August 30th: 4 hour deep dive into entrance songs Mergences and Choreography. Noon to 5pm with one hour break/mingle cost: $75 in person or zoom

September 13th: 4 hour deep dive into Saidi and Tahtib Choreography. Noon to 5pm with one hour break/mingle cost: $75 in person or zoom

Sept-Nov: Performance intensive: one on one and group solo creation with a focus on performing either a 10-15 minute show of your choice or let Amity put one together that will force you to grow out of your comfort zone :) 8 weekly Thursday night zoom meetings at 7pm Eastern time plus four 30 minute private lessons. In person or zoom Cost: $275

Sept 10-Oct 29th Amity's fun facts and History of Belly Dance online lecture series. 8 weeks Thursdays 7 to 8pm est. Cost: $80

Nov 5th to 19th: Musicality online lecture series for dancers. Dive into rhythms, maqams, and feeling the music for improvisation. 3 weeks Thursdays 7 to 8pm Cost: $30

Dear Dance Community,

Patricia has been supporting the New England Dance community for a decade as the person behind the scenes taking registrations, organizing swag, doing the programs and show orders, helping at the festivals and workshops and shows, and more. Honestly, Raq-On would not have been able to do so much without her help. She is moving to be closer to family and leaving New England.

Mixed level (at least 1 year of belly dance required)
In person in Springfield, NH or zoom
6pm est Technique
7pm est Choreography
Cost: $200 each or both for $350 prepaid. 8 spots available.

Casual springtime hafla/recital: tbd by group

Sunday Intensives
Join us for 4 hours of classes and Choreography to stretch your technique and brain, plus hangout time with peers. In person in Springfield NH or online, 5 dancer limit.

January 25th
Noon to 2pm: Dust shakeoff: getting back to the basics, back into dance, and our bodies
2 to 3 group snacks & hangout
3 to 5pm: Improv Roulette Fun

February 22nd
Noon to 2pm: Baladi Progressions: Tet vs Awadi, formats technique, and musicality
2 to 3 group snacks hangout
3 to 5pm: Beledi Choreography

March 22nd
Noon to 2pm: Travelling Arms, Steps, Nuance
2 to 3 group snacks & hangout
3 to 5pm: All the things Entrance Choreography to Amity's Mergence

April 5th
Noon to 2pm: Saidi folklore
2 to 3 group snacks & hangout
3 to 5pm: Cane/Tahtib Choreography

May 3rd
Noon to 2pm: Drum solos and accents
2 to 3 group snacks & hangout
3 to 5pm: Drum solo Choreography (with optional cape or veil)
