We are one week away!!

Sunday June 7th at Candlelight Inn! All are welcome!! Bring yourself, your friends, and your family!

We are so excited to host you all on this day where we can come together and celebrate the edgemont wrestling program and to reminisce all the great memkries

We will also celebrate the accomplishments of two huge pieces of Edgemont Wrestling history and program.

Genta Murayama - class of 2009 - 3 x section champion, 2 x all state, 2009 state runner up! He also snapped the 15 year drought of no section champions from Edgemont when he won his first in 2007!

Pete Jacobson - class of 1996 - as a coach he won the 2022 Section Team Title, he had 2 All Americans, 3 State Champions, 7 All State, 18 state qualifiers, 16 section champions, over 70 All-Section wrestlers. Not too mention a long list of student athletes wrestling at the d1 to d3 level and attending Ivy League schools and amazing schools!

Congrats to both and we will commemorate them next week!

"When you seek for his monument, look around you"

Coach Pete Jacobson has been a huge influence on my life as well as the countless others that had the privilege to have been coached by him or coached alongside him (in some cases both like me!). To see him evolve the Edgemont Wrestling Program to what it is today was truly a testament to his vision and his willingness to stay with his path and journey.

His impact is measured beyond the win-loss record or the medals and trophies that is so often used as a barometer of a coaches ability. Pete showed me that a coach's impact goes beyond the wrestling mat but in school, family, friends and other areas of the student athlete's life. This was reinforced by implementing a process oriented mindset where one's progress and abilities are not based on the results but on factors we can control - our attitude, our mindset, and how hard we work.

Pete has taught me a lot of aspects of coaching but the one main aspect that I would always appreciate him for and something that he taught me was gratitude. Through gratitude it empowers all the other aspects of coaching and really our lives. With gratitude it makes accountability and discipline more about caring and empathy rather than just enforcement or a "because i said so" environment.

He has really opened my eyes to the depth and impact of what a coach can be. Being willing to work tirelessly and with great care and love for the sport and team. But also realizing the credit goes to the student athletes... the wrestlers who took it upon themselves to take our vision as coaches and put it to reality.

It is an honor to have not only be coached by Pete but also coach alongside him. His continued success at the NCAA level at Hunter College is a testament to his core values that he implemented first at Edgemont. As now the head coach for Edgemont High School, I stand on the foundations of his work along with the other assistants that I worked with. My only hope is that I can continue his legacy and push the tradition of building champions on and off the mat in the coming years.

Its back!!!

This event is back after a long hiatus since the pre-covid days! I believe the last one was 2019 so I am very excited to bring this back and have the chance to reunite generations of the Edgemont Wrestling Program together and also have families enjoy a great day together!

To add on to this - we will be inducting two Edgemont alumni into the Edgemont Wrestling Hall of Fame and we will have a moment to commemorate and celebrate their accomplishments

Peter Jacobson - class of 1996 - head coach for Edgemont Wrestling for 10 years and has been a coach for Edgemont Wrestling for more than 20. 16 Section Champions, 18 State Qualifiers, 7 All-state, 3 state champions, and 2022 D2 Team Champions! What a career here!

Genta Murayama - class of 2009 - 3x Section champion, 2x all state, and State finalist in 2009. He ended the section champion drought of 15 years from 1992 to 2007!

Congrats to Coach Pete Jacobson for being selected to the Edgemont Wrestling Hall of Fame 2026!!

Building champions on and off the mat has been the mantra for Edgemont Wrestling during the 2010s to now - much of it being influenced and directed by Coach Pete Jacobson.

It has shown with champs at the sectional and state level and success at the academic level as well.

We will celebrate his success and his selection this June (date is tbd) at our Alummni BBQ at Candlelight Inn! More details to follow!

As a recap - we took 5th place out of the 16 schools of Section 1 Division 2. This was a real team effort as we were the only top 5 school to have no champions and only 1 finalist. To me this shows that every wrestler in this team pulled their weight and really elevated the team in the points as much as they can. I am so proud and commend all the wrestlers on Friday for competing their hearts out.

Medalists
2nd place - Gus Parsons - 190lb - All Section
3rd place - Stephen Ahn - 144lb
3rd place - Ben Weksel - 175lb
4th place - Zach de Guzman - 110lb
4th place - Andy Kllobocishta - 118lb
4th place - Marco DeMaio - 138lb
4th place - Malcolm Dees - 165lb
5th place - Jacob Castillo - 126lb
5th place - Roman Hoffmesiter - 150lb
6th place - Ryan Thomas - 103lb

Out of the 15 wrestlers that competed - 10 of them placed and out of those we have 6 coming back. I am also very excited to see some who weren't able to place and see how they can improve over the course from the spring season to the start of next season!

Major thanks to my coaches for being with me every step of the way this season and being so helpful in practices and competitions. It really takes a village and these guys are a huge part of it. .20 .guerrino

Super proud of the whole team for wrestling hard in a long day and maintaining their focus and competitiveness throughout the bracket. This was a nice way to finish off the season before getting ready for the Sectional tournament on Friday February 6th - At the Westchester County Center!

Thank you to all the parents who volunteered, the edgemont HS staff for helping, the athletic department for helping with the logistics and technology, and the custodial staff for maintaining the building throughout the day and at the end of it. This effort truly takes a village and it really made me grateful for being around people who worked hard and made sure the tournament went smoothly.

Next stop is Sectionals!
