⭐️🐢 Gabe Shelly 🐢⭐️
Joined the Fighting Turtles in 2019
Graduate of McKeesport High School
Since joining the White Oak Fighting Turtles in 2019, Gabe Shelly has brought energy, grit, and a laid-back sense of fun to the team. In high school, Gabe was a true multi-talent, excelling in academics, athletics, and the arts. He competed on the varsity swim, track and field, and golf teams, and played in the orchestra, symphonic band, and jazz band. He even took part in the Pitt High School Musical program and was inducted into the National Technical Honor Society.
Gabe’s hard work earned him major recognition; placing 3rd in the Skills USA Competition for Building Construction, being named Outstanding Student in Building Construction, and winning The Challenge Program award for CTE in 2024. Outside the pool and classroom, Gabe spends his time playing bass and electric guitar and writing music, blending his creative talents with his technical skills.
After graduation, Gabe is working for a construction company and plans to join the Carpenters Union Local 432 to continue building a strong future, literally and figuratively.
His advice for teammates?
“Have fun, swim hard.”
Short, sweet, and exactly what he lives by.
Gabe’s favorite events include the 50 freestyle and the 200 medley relay, where he proudly swims the breaststroke leg. His favorite team memories are the end-of-the-year parties, filled with laughter, celebration, and a deep sense of community.
We’re proud to have watched Gabe grow into the hardworking and talented young man he is today. We’ll miss his steady presence and quiet leadership on deck. Best of luck with everything ahead, Gabe; you’ll always have a lane here with the Turtles.
