Are you a baseball and baseball history fan? Would you like to become one? Want to see and share to younger baseball players the old way the game was played?

On September 23, at Highland State Recreation Area, bring a picnic blanket, umbrella, and a folding chair to get outside and watch the 1860’s reenactment baseball game at the Haven Hill Festival in White Lake, Michigan. Folks young and old will enjoy seeing and learning the way the American sport of "base ball" was played many years ago. No spitting, no cursing, no gloves!

The Haven Hill Barn Stormers will host the Royal Oak Wahoos at 10am as the vintage Ford Model A cars arrive at Goose Meadow Ball Field.

And so the other day.... My 11 year-old son Jack, the Haven Hill Barn Stormers vintage Base ball club bat boy since he was 4 years old, and I were at a "Menards" chain hardware store here in Michigan. As we entered the store we walked through an old-fashioned turnstile machine. Not very common nowadays ya hafta admit. We paused, and wondered to ourselves... "Hey, this is is a modern version of a "crank" from the early days of baseball, right?"

So I thought I'd post the photo of our "crank" turnstile that we walked through that day, and then see what you ballists and family members and "cranks" could find about the history of the term "Crank" as it relates to the thing we know of as a "turnstile". Tell me what ya think....

Can you find any photos? (Insider Info: I already looked around the web a bit, and was amazed at what I did NOT find as far as a photo of an actual fan and a ball field-entry "crank" machine).

And oh, by the way, Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas, Happy New Year to all of you folks from the Haven Hill Bar Stormers vintage base ball club!
