Let this serve as an important reminder for all of us who love this game and spend our evenings and weekends at the ballpark. ⚾🥎

For all those parents of youth baseball, let last night's ending to the Phillies/Dodgers be a lesson.

The game is hard. Arguably, the most difficult sport in the world to be consistently good at.

Beyond the mere physical skill aspect, the game is as much if not more mental than physical.

Last night, we saw a professional player in a high pressure moment allow the panic to set in and make a mistake.

He's being chastised by the fans, many of who enjoy the game but don't truly understand how difficult it is.

He was comforted by those around him who truly know the game.

The isolation and aloneness he must have felt in that moment must have been soul crushing.

We've seen multiple physical errors in these playoffs by the people at the top of this game.

The pro players have pressure from thousands who don't know them personally.

Your player can feel that same level of pressure from you because with you it's personal.

So the next time your 12 year old makes a bad throw, boots a grounder in the field or does something dumb on the bases, have some grace and patience and remember it's part of the game.

Ever wonder how you move 500+ tons of Lime to build the infield of new ball field and 100+ tons of top soil to dress the edges? With lots of help from friends with big toys and a ton of knowledge. Shout out to Larry Sebens and crew from Sangamon Township for moving and leveling the infield material and the new top soil to finish off foul territory. Turns out smooth roads and smooth ball fields have a lot in common! Well done Larry!

There are 24 fixtures on 6 poles. Mounting height is approximately 55’.

We’re making progress on the new ball field in White Heath and could use your help. We need 4-5 loads of top soil to complete the grading work around the infield. If you have or know of a source we’d love to hear from you.

If you're in high school this fall and seeking a fun fall activity that provides experience playing against other high school athletes, consider this opportunity from the Urbana Park District. In this High School Wood Bat League, teams play 6 doubleheaders (12 total games) on Sundays, starting in early September. Local practices and development opportunities will be available starting in mid-August, along with significant game exposure. When registering, please indicate that you attend Monticello High School.
