Folks, it's a fact, the city of White Bear Lakes wants the White Bear Lake Sports Center off their books. Do you want to keep it?

Contact your councilperson, mayor, or the athletic director at White Bear Lake High School South Campus.

We need action. The school district, city, or the hockey association need to do something.

So do you. Take action.

Here is an update on the rink as I know it. Apparently the rink is in need of a new cooling system to refrigerate the ice. The costs exceed $1,000,000 and it needs a new roof. Also, it was originally built to house tennis courts, so the building was not a rink to begin with. The debate becomes multifaceted:

1. Does the city of WBL pay of it, or shut it down?
2. Does the city of WBL tear it down and build a 2 rink facility, approximately $5,000,000.
3. Is there another government that can take it over. Example, the school district since it's not just a WBL arena. It's used by Hugo, Vadnais, WBL, Gem Lake (all part of the school district)
4. Could the hockey association or another private party buy it?

Begin the debate. Come up with creative solutions. We need a way to keep the rink.

Reach out others. Let's solve this.
