Rain-shortened event!
Congratulations to Wheeling University’s Lodin Femoen who won the Undo's Family Restaurants / United Dairy, Inc.Amateur Golf Classic posting a 5-under-par 67 in the first round once the rain washed out the final round as not everyone on the championship side completed at least 9 holes.
Femoen, the Norwegian who is a junior at Wheeling University paired w college teammate Luke Wennen, a sophomore from Calgary, Alberta CA to win the Best Ball title.
Femoen and Wennen helped lead Wheeling U. to the school’s first berth in the D-2 National Tournament in Las Vegas in May. Worth noting, West Liberty University men’s golf coach Noah Seivertson shot a 67 today before the rain but the score did not count due to the rainout.
The Senior Division, was based on 27 holes and the crown was shared by Mike Pietranton and Joe Doerr, who both shot -1 under par 71 on Saturday and 38 on the front 9 on Sunday. Mike Lutz who lives near Uniontown, PA was among a group of 4 including his partner Bob Tajc, Jay Pappas and Rico Simonetti who tied for 3rd.
Doerr and partner Bob Clark won the Senior Best Ball title.
Tom Gaudino won a playoff over Doc Shaffer for the First Fight championship.
The First Flight Best Ball champions are Steven Corder and Steven Rapp, who finished one clear of Gaudino and T.C.Chappelear.
