The Curtis Curve is back. The most innovative goal stick from the past is back with a modern twist and feel.

FakeWoodTwigs is proud to announce a preorder for our custom designed Rufus Curve goalie stick. This stick combines new and old school. The shaft is a copy of the old Curtis Curve with the curve at the shoulder to aid with paddle down coverage, and the curve at the top of the shaft to help with shooting and picking up the stick. The paddle is a modern flat faced paddle construction with a P31 curve. The entire stick is made from our standard high quality 18K carbon for a great performing and durable stick.

Reserve your stick for $100, then once the preorder phase is complete, we will bill you for the remainder before we begin production. Full terms and conditions of this preorder can be found here.

Final price is $225 USD plus shipping. Once the pre order phase is complete, you will be charged the remaining balance due ($125 per stick plus applicable shipping charge). An email will be sent before the final charge is made. The same form of payment will be used for both the down payment and remaining balance.

At this time we are starting off by offering 24”, 25”, 26”, and 27” paddle heights in regular hand (sorry southpaws). However if you are interested in a different paddle height please contact us and let us know. If we get enough interest for additional paddle sizes we are happy to add them.

Specs will be almost the same as our standard sticks, see below. Weight may slightly change due to the shaft shape and additional material required.

Tacky Grip at Shoulder Area (option)

All sticks will have the option for free name printing on the shaft, along with the standard curve and flex printing.

Paddle sizing uses a standard Bauer sizing chart.

Whenever I travel for my day job, and time permits, I like to visit the hockey shops in the area. The big box stores are nice for the mass selection and showing the latest and greatest. But small independent shops like Blueline Sports West are the lifeblood of the hockey community. Places like this have been serving their local area for many years not only with equipment, but service, repair, and uniforms to name a few. Plus where else can you find some sweet NOS hidden gems like this Easton shirt.

Had a request from a customer who was looking to recreate a Richter Vic. So we did a dual color stick with a wood grain handle and a blue paddle. With the customer applied vinyl graphics from Richard Lupien, it’s the icing on the cake. This one turned out phenomenal.

Taped up a new goalie stick and decided to try a different color grip. Went with a brown for a little bit of an old school look, but I’ve been using white forever. Tennis overgrips are my favorite top hand grip as they give a good feel, hold up well, don’t eat glove palms, and can be found in many colors for cheap. I even used them as stick hand grips on my goalie sticks back in the foam core days. What’s your favorite type of grip to use?
