If you’ve ever wondered why your deadlift feels off, this is probably why.

Coach TJ walks through the most common errors he sees on the floor and how to clean them up.

The deadlift is one of the most effective movements you can do for full body strength. But it’s also one of the most commonly performed with errors that limit your progress or put you at risk for injury. Small technique mistakes can make a big lift feel harder than it should and add up over time.

The good news is most of what goes wrong in a deadlift is fixable. Setup, positioning, bracing, and how you initiate the pull make a bigger difference than most people realize. Getting those details right means more weight moved safely and results that actually show up.

Watch, take notes, and save this for your next pull day. Your deadlift will thank you.

Want coaching this specific? That’s what we do.

🏆 Member of the Month: Elvia!

Favorite thing about training with Coach Hannah? The tough love. Elvia’s words. Hannah challenges her, keeps her motivated, and makes sure she finishes every workout strong.

Her goals when she started: build muscle and knock out a few pull-ups. Still working toward both and showing up every week to get there.

Favorite exercise? All of them. Every movement has a purpose and Elvia respects the process.

Outside the gym she’s knitting, reading, and trying new workouts because one gym isn’t enough activity for this queen!

Workout soundtrack: house and EDM all the way. Congrats Elvia, keep showing up đŸ’Ș

🏆 Class Member of the Month: Kristin!!

Favorite thing about MSP? The people. The members and coaches become like family. They know your name, they notice when you’re gone, and somewhere along the way Kristin discovered that working out and then heading to the bar inside Mariano’s grocery store is genuinely one of the better social activities available. She stands by this.

Fitness has improved her life in just about every way. Clothes fit better. Mood is better. Sleep is better. She’s hitting lifts that used to intimidate her and getting stronger every week. Also, see above re: the Mariano’s bar.

Her favorite lift is bench press. Favorite class is a tie between Unconventional Strength with TJ and any class where Kael is teaching and the 5:30/6:30 crew spends the whole time laughing like children and annoying him. Both are valid.

Her advice for anyone on the fence: just come in. She started in what she calls the worst shape of her life, convinced she didn’t belong. MSP showed her pretty quickly that everyone belongs here and everyone is here to help. She’s really glad she stuck with it.

Her current goal: get on the board for something. Specifically a 135lb bench press. We’re rooting for her!!

Workout soundtrack: pop mixes, rock mixes, and bangers only. Mood dependent.

Congrats Kristin, keep showing up đŸ’Ș

Gymaholic.
Yeah, we’ll take it.

Because what you’re looking at isn’t just a group of people who like to work out. It’s people who show up on the days they don’t feel like it. Who cheer for someone else’s PR like it’s their own. Who have found something here that goes way beyond the physical results.

That’s what happens when you find the right community. The gym stops feeling like a chore and starts feeling like the best part of your day. The people around you stop being strangers and start being the reason you keep coming back.

Results matter. But the people you get them with matter just as much.

If you’ve been looking for your people, we might just have them.

I interviewed three women who have something to say about strength training as they age. Spoiler: they’re not slowing down!!!

Strength training becomes one of the most important things a woman can do as she gets older. It preserves bone density, supports hormone health, maintains muscle mass that naturally declines with age, and helps manage some of the most common symptoms of perimenopause and menopause. The research is clear and so are the women in this video.

Our Muscles for Menopause program was built specifically for this season of life. Real coaching, real programming, and a community of women who get it.

Because getting older does not mean getting weaker. It means training smarter.

If you or someone you know is navigating perimenopause or menopause and wondering what to do, this one is for you! Link in bio!

You’ve been stuck at the same weight for three months.

Your body is not broken. Your program might be.

Plateaus happen for predictable, addressable reasons. Here’s the diagnostic:

REASON 1: YOUR BODY HAS ADAPTED TO YOUR STIMULUS
If you’ve been doing the same exercises, with the same load, in the same rep ranges, for months - your body has had time to fully adapt. It no longer has a reason to change. Progressive overload requires progression.

REASON 2: RECOVERY IS LIMITING PERFORMANCE
You cannot adapt to training you haven’t recovered from. If sleep, stress, or nutrition is compromised - your body is managing survival, not building capacity. The training isn’t the problem.

REASON 3: THE PROGRAM HAS NO STRUCTURE
Random hard workouts can produce initial results - novelty is a stimulus. But without periodization, you hit diminishing returns fast. Your body needs planned variation in intensity, volume, and exercise selection to keep adapting.

At MSP/FTX, plateaus are diagnostic moments, not failures. Our coaches see them as information to work with, not problems to feel bad about.

If you’ve been stuck

If you’ve ever tried to stay consistent working out alone, you know how hard it is to keep showing up when nobody is expecting you.

Group fitness changes that. When you walk into a class at MSP, there’s a coach who knows your name, members who notice when you’re not there, and an energy in the room that makes you work harder than you would on your own. That’s not a coincidence. That’s the whole point.

Research backs it up too. People who train in groups show higher consistency, more effort during workouts, and better long term results than those who train solo. The accountability and the social connection aren’t just nice bonuses. They’re part of what makes it work.

And beyond the science, there’s something harder to measure. The fist bump after a hard workout. The coach who remembers what you’ve been working on. The stranger who becomes someone you’d run through a wall for after one class together.

If you’ve been looking for a place where showing up actually feels good, we’d love to have you. Link in bio.

A lot of people check our page before they ever walk through the door. So here’s what a strength and conditioning class at MSP actually looks like, start to finish. No highlight reel, just the real thing

Eight hours in a chair does a number on your hips, spine, and shoulders. Coach TJ broke down 3 movements you can do the second you get home. No equipment, no excuses.
