TIP: A Simple Photo Workflow for Mac Users

If your photos are stored in Apple Photos, you may wonder where the actual files are and how to use them elsewhere. The good news is that moving a photo from Photos to your Desktop or Facebook takes only a few steps.

Your photo lives inside the Photos Library on your Mac. You do not need to search through that library or move the original. Instead, export a separate copy that you can upload, share, or organize.

Export a photo to your Desktop

1. Open the photo in Apple Photos.

2. Select File at the top of the screen.

3. Choose Export, then Export 1 Photo.

4. Select JPEG, Maximum Quality, sRGB, and Full Size.

5. Click Export and choose Desktop as the destination.

Your original remains safely in Photos, while a separate JPEG copy appears on your Desktop.

Add the photo to Facebook

Open Facebook and begin your post. Select Photo/Video, choose Desktop, and click the exported JPEG.

That is the entire process.

Where Lightroom fits

Not every photo needs to go through Lightroom.

Apple Photos can hold your everyday images and handle quick sharing. Lightroom can be reserved for your best photographs, the images you want to edit carefully, include in your portfolio, print, or publish as part of your visual work.

A simple system might look like this:

* Apple Photos for your everyday photo library
* Lightroom for your best work
* Desktop for photos currently being uploaded or shared
* A clearly named folder for finished images you want to keep outside Photos

This keeps Lightroom from becoming overcrowded and makes it easier to find the photographs that truly represent your work.

The photograph shown here, “Rome from Above,” was exported from Apple Photos directly to the Desktop and was immediately ready to publish. No complicated file search was required.

You can do this. Finish the image first, export it second, and publish it in one clean step.

The Art of Food Presentation

At the Imperial Lounge at the Rome Cavalieri, breakfast is not simply served. It is composed.

The central black-and-gold urn creates a dramatic focal point, while the surrounding bowls, plates, marble, and glass form layers of color, texture, rhythm, and repetition. The arrangement guides the eye before the first selection is made. Food becomes part of the room’s visual language.

Presentation shapes experience. Color can awaken appetite. Symmetry can create calm. Height adds drama, negative space allows the eye to rest, and thoughtfully placed details invite curiosity. Even familiar foods can feel special when they are presented with intention.

This is where culinary practice meets visual art. The person arranging the table is making many of the same decisions a painter, photographer, or interior designer makes. What will draw the eye first? How will each element relate to the next? Where will abundance feel generous, and where will restraint feel elegant?

Food presentation is also an expression of hospitality. Before a guest tastes anything, the environment has already communicated care. It says that someone considered not only what would be offered, but how it would be discovered and experienced.

That principle extends into retreat design. At Edge Yoga School, we explore how environment, presentation, rhythm, and sensory details influence the participant experience. A meaningful retreat is shaped not only by what appears on the schedule, but also by the quiet visual messages surrounding each moment.

Art is not confined to a gallery. Sometimes it is waiting at the breakfast table.
