Danada Equestrian Center Danada Equestrian Center promotes safe, humane horse-handling practices and care. Danada is the former home of Daniel and Ada Rice.

It provides horseback riding lessons, summer camp & a robust volunteer program! The 1,350 acre working farm was purchased in 1929 and used to raise sheep, hogs cattle, chicken and turkeys, but it was the Thoroughbred racehorses that were their pride and joy. In 1965, the Rice's celebrated the win of their horse, Lucky Debonair, in the Kentucky Derby. The Forest Preserve District purchased their estate in 1980.

Happy National Volunteer Week! This week, we celebrate Danada's amazing crew- we're so lucky to have you. Thank you for showing up every day for our horses, rain or shine, snow or heat. Not only do they help feed, clean and care for our horses, they support our programs and our annual Fall Festival. We appreciate you!

Appreciation post for our sweet Daisy. Daisy came to us in 2020 as part of our driving team and was initially a bit tough to work with. She was quite defensive and uncertain about what we were up to. 👀 After lots of patience and time, she has become such a great mare to work with!
