Well, Petra pig came down with pneumonia while we were in Springfield this week. So I hopped into action and got her up to the vet (after airing up trailer tires, backing the trailer right up to her and praying she went in, and running back and forth between my son 🤣)
He gave her an antibiotic and 2 shots on banamine - and I have to give her 1 shot of banamine for the next 2 days! That will be a first for me!
She did have me scared yesterday but today she got up and ate some of the buffet I put out for her, and drank a little water - so I believe she’s on the mend.
Something my husband said yesterday stuck with me though. Prey animals don’t show that they are hurt or sick unless they absolutely can’t take it anymore. When you look around, you may see a lot of people who look just fine on the outside, but you never know who is really hurting or going thru something. A lot of times we don’t show it, but the good thing is we have a God in Heaven that’s waiting for us to do exactly that. To say to him that we are struggling and we need His help! Honestly, we shouldn’t wait til our lowest point to seek help, we should seek his help and trust Him every day!
Always a lesson in the trial….Keep your heart open to them.

NOW OFFERING BY APPOINTMENT -
MINI MEET & GREET
$7.50 per person (parents/guardians included even if you don’t pet the animals)
- Approximately a 30 minute experience
Hang out, feed, and take pictures with our pig, rabbits, horses (and Jake, our cute little dog!)
This is just a little taste of what we will offer for our petting zoo in the near future!!

We’re not set up to be open to the public just yet, but every little bit helps!! by bringing your kids and your family out for this mini meet and greet, you will be helping us to get to our goal of opening and having a nice place for you and your family that much sooner!! we want to be here for you and appreciate any support to help us reach our goal!

Basic Package: $150
2 hour event room rental
Lead line horse rides for 1 of those hours
5 free day passes for when we open to the public
Mini meet & greet of all current animals for all guests.

Event room only
Seats 30
$50 per hour

Fire pit rental
$30 per hour

Lead line horseback rides
$100 per hour
Approx 20 riders per hour
If you want to bring a group of kids or persons out JUST to ride the horses.
if you choose this option we will ONLY be in the arena area and riders will be required to take turns on the horses and wear helmets. For right now, if the group wishes to see and feed the rest of the animals (pig and rabbits), it will be an additional $5 per guest

Say hello to Maple (Brown) and Ember (Black).

They are our sweet 7 week old Bunnies!! We are so happy to have them and they will be a great addition to our petting zoo! They have been handled a lot and love to cuddle. They also love to hop around!! Most days we are open you will find them in a small pen in our gift shop!!

Snow post!! Here’s what it looks like at Sterkel K right now!!
It’s gonna take a few days to melt off for sure, and I appreciate the beauty of it, but I’ve had my fill lol 😂
Praising God for providing thru the storm!! animals have all been fed, watered, and cleaned up after. The well house is not frozen. The only mishap is one busted pipe in our bedroom, but will be fixed when the man of the house gets home this week!
So excited to welcome 2 female bunnies tomorrow!!! And chickens in the next couple weeks!! You’ll probably see another post 😊

And remember the “big project” I talked about that has to be done before I announce a grand opening date? Well it was getting someone to come out and put our big fence up around the pasture - and it’s going to happen as soon as the snow melts!!! So please stay tuned - you will be seeing a grand opening date VERY SOON - and I promise it’s not far away!!

So excited to get opened up and have a super fun place for you to bring your family and enjoy!!
