Women’s high school wrestling continues to grow!! Some of our toughest nomads are the young ladies who gave wrestling a chance. It’s not any easy sport by any means, but the personal growth and the mental toughness wrestling unlocks is undeniable. If you know anyone who may be interested, please pass along the NorCal nomads wrestling club. We are a home grown program ran by hometown folks who grew up competing in Wheatland sports. Help us continue growing this sport for the girls and build their own competitive divisions.

This was shared with me so I am sharing it with you.

Girls high school wrestling continues to explode across the country. Participation reached a record 88,771 athletes during the 2025–26 season, a 19.9% increase in just one year, while 8,853 schools now sponsor the sport. Since 2021–22, participation has grown from 31,654 to 88,771, showing just how quickly girls wrestling has become one of the fastest-growing high school sports in America.

We are incredibly proud to announce that, through an amazing partnership with the Wheatland Jr Pirates Football and Cheer organization, we have purchased our first official Nor-Cal Nomads Wrestling Club mat.

This is about more than a wrestling mat. It represents what can happen when youth organizations come together with a shared commitment to strengthening our community and investing in our kids.

This partnership directly supports our Nomad wrestlers and our Jr Pirate cheerleaders, giving both programs an opportunity to grow, develop, and build something bigger together.

A huge shout out and thank you to the Jr Pirate board and, most importantly, all of the families who support our young athletes. Your dedication and willingness to work together are what make opportunities like this possible.

We also want to give a heartfelt shout out and thank you to Bear River Middle School for their incredible support over the past two years. They generously provided us with a mat and a facility to use, allowing us to grow from just an idea into a reality we are extremely proud of. Their support has played a vital role in helping the Nor-Cal Nomads Wrestling Club get to where we are today.

Two teams. Two colors. One town. One mission.

We are Wheatland Strong, and we are committed to the growth and development of our youth, no matter what sport or competition they choose.

This is what community and partnership look like: coming together to build a culture of success.

NOMADS ARE STILL HERE!

The Nor-Cal Nomads are still putting in the work behind the scenes as we prepare for another great season.

We’re looking forward to bringing all of our returning Nomads back to the mat and welcoming any new wrestlers and families who want to come see what we’re all about.

Whether you’re brand new to wrestling or an experienced wrestler looking to get better, there’s a place for you with the Nomads.

A USA Wrestling membership is required after your first week of practice.

USA Wrestling is the national governing body for the sport of wrestling in the United States. Your membership provides insurance coverage for our club and wrestlers and is also required for registration and participation in many wrestling tournaments.

Looks like the rain is cancelling some baseball games. Fun fact, wrestling never cancels for weather! Leave your cleats in the car and come wrestle! Nor-Cal Nomads are always here for you! You can find us at Bear River Middle School at 5:30p. 😉

Nomad Wrestling Club family,

There will be no practice next week (April 13–19) due to scheduling and coach availability. We will resume our normal schedule the following week starting Monday, April 20.

Appreciate everyone’s flexibility and support.

Also, big congratulations to all of our wrestlers who competed today — you showed toughness, effort, and represented the club the right way. Proud of the hard work you put in on the mat.

Let’s get ready to get back after it the following week 💪

NorCal Nomads Wrestling is back on the mat starting today!

Practice schedule:
Monday through Thursday
5:30 PM – 7:30 PM

We will be placing a stronger emphasis on freestyle this season, but Sawa will continue to offer folkstyle brackets. Our wrestlers will have the opportunity to compete in all three styles if they choose.

More matches and more mat time is what makes us better. Let’s get to work.

We also want to recognize and congratulate our Nomads who helped lead Besr River middle school to another district championship. This marks their fourth team title in a row. Consistency, hard work, and commitment continue to set the standard.
