Occasionally, the outcome of a race is eclipsed by the experience and key takeaways. This week presented a case in point. Upon arrival at the speedway, we encountered a substantial issue - the primary power generator on our race trailer had malfunctioned. Consequently, we were unable to unload the racecars or access vital amenities such as heat, air conditioning, or refrigeration until we obtained a replacement generator.
First up for practice was Johnny and he lost an engine after a lap and a half. But thanks to Greg and Ryan Stingle for borrowing us their backup power plant and carburetor We were able to race Saturday.
SuperStock Truck practice went clean and green for me thanks to Brian and the boys. They had the truck prepped and ready all weekend long. And damn can this thing fly. All the new adjustments and parts worked perfectly.
Saturday race for the Light Buggy was interesting. Johnny ran his best race starting 7th and running in the top 4 most of the race until a transmission let go with 2 to go. He limped it around for a 6th.
After getting it backtrack to the pits with help from The Diesel Doctor we saw it took out the clutch and transmission along with the rear main seal of our borrowed engine. We were able to borrow yet again parts from the 172 Stingle team so we could race Sunday. Thank you again gentlemen.
Saturday race for me was all over the board. Equal parts fast and terrible. My driving was not on point and spun out a few times pushing it too much in the mud. But we did clear the table top which was almost worth the headaches. P5.
Worked all night again on the buggy to get it ready to go for John as he started outside front row. Not the race he had hoped for but he is learning as a young driver the whens and where’s of racecraft. P9
Sunday for Matt was rolling off from 6th position and brought it home 5th again. It takes abit to knock the rust off at my advanced age 😉
Thanks to all my guys for all the work all weekend and thanks to Matt Gerald for Spotting John and I.
Thanks to The 99 Parsons crew for all the help/tools and laughs. Thanks Darrin Parsons for the tire cuts.
Best time of the weekend was probably had at the go cart track at Lucas Oil Speedway. Rematch is in order for next time boys!!
Time to head home lick our wounds and get John ready for Golden Sands Speedway on Friday night. And Me at Marshfield Motor Speedway Saturday night with the Sportsman Series. Hope to see you all there.
