As New England warms up, we like to send out reminders of running in the heat.
Here is your reminder that running in the heat can be safe as long as you’re slowing your pace. The rule of thumb is adjusting your pace by 2-2.5 seconds for every degree over 59.
A few other safety precautions for you:
☀️ Head out in the morning or evening to avoid the hottest parts of the day.
☀️ Drink water!
☀️ Wear light, moisture wicking clothing
☀️ Know the symptoms and heat exhaustion and keep checking in on yourself for them
☀️ If possible- run on the treadmill on days over 85
☀️ Take hot days as rest days, strength days or mobility days
Train smart and stay healthy!
