Today we worked with an elite hockey group, focusing on one of the most important aspects of performance, Rotational Movement. 🏒
Session focus:
• Rotational power
• Rotational core strength
• Spinal rotation & mobility
• Lower-body stability
• Lower-body “tap-ins”
Why does it matter?
Hockey is built on explosive movement, with one of the most prominent movements being rotation. Every shot, pass, stride, body check, and rapid change of direction depends on the ability to generate and transfer rotational force while maintaining stability. The stronger and more efficient your rotational system is, the more power, speed, and control you bring to the ice.
We also spent time on lower-body tap-ins, an exercise that challenges the stabilizing muscles of the hips, knees, ankles, and feet. If you’ve ever felt your leg shaking during these drills, that’s your nervous system working hard to recruit more motor units to maintain stability and resist fatigue. It’s not just about strength—it’s about improving neuromuscular control and creating a more resilient athlete.
Performance starts with movement. Build the foundation, and the results follow.
