After missing a bear in October, I finally got er done. One well placed shot from my Browning x bolt in 308 using Hornady 150gr Interbonds handloads did the trick on this average New York State Sow weighing about 135lbs. I showered and washed my hunting clothing with Bucks-N-Does Ultimate Advantage unscented detergent and soap sprayed down with B&D's GTX Clothing spray then in the feild sprayed Bucks-N-Does Conifer scented cover scent every few hours . On November 16th I was hunting over a well-traveled game trail where I almost had a shot after grunting in a big 125 class 8 pt buck, he snuck in from behind and tore ass just as I swung the rifle, two jumps in the Adirondacks thick forest and he was out of sight. Mid morning the next day, (November 17th) I found myself in the same post in hopes of getting a second chance at Mr 8. This day was windy and the chill (18deg temp) made the sit just a tad uncomfortable. With daylight fading fast (4:05 pm) I gave my grunt call one last attempt, 15 minutes passed and i spotted this sow sneaking up the trail. Game over bear # 18 in the books. Leon C.
