“I got better.”

Fans of Monty Python and the Holy Grail may remember that famous line, and the eastern newt gives us the perfect excuse to use it! The North American eastern newt undergoes an incredible transformation during its life, starting as a bright orange-red "red eft" that lives on land before eventually returning to the water as an olive-green adult.

These small amphibians can often be found in and around Hale's wetlands, ponds, and forested areas. Their remarkable life cycle allows them to thrive in both terrestrial and aquatic habitats, proving that sometimes a dramatic transformation really does leave you saying, "I got better,” in a truly ridiculous British accent.

Join us for Cyclocross Training Races on Tuesday nights in September and early October. Cyclocross (often abbreviated CX or simply “cross”) is a multi-terrain bicycle racing discipline that combines the speed of road cycling, the technical challenges of mountain biking, and the obstacles and barriers of a steeplechase. What is a Conservation Restriction? In Massachusetts, it’s a powerful conservation tool that permanently protects land from development while allowing it to continue serving the people and communities who value it.
