Awesome night at with Dr. Gilbert — the #1 sports psychologist in the world.

So many powerful takeaways, but maybe the biggest reminder of the night was this:

Most players and coaches only focus on skill development.

That’s a massive mistake.

At Hoop Dreamz we believe elite players need ALL 3 PDPs:
1. Player Development Plan
2. Personal Development Plan
3. Performance Development Plan

You need all three.

Technical skills alone are not enough anymore.

Can you handle pressure?
Can you respond to adversity?
Can you stay confident when things get hard?

That’s why we invest heavily into the mental and performance side of development at HD.

Last night at Hoop Dreamz we had an incredible Performance Training Seminar with Dr. Gilbert.

A few powerful reminders for players, coaches, and parents:

• K - A = 0
Knowledge minus Action = ZERO.
You don’t get better by knowing… you get better by doing.

• Start a streak.
Great habits change your life.
Reading. Training. Gratitude. Film study. Journaling.
You will NEVER regret starting a positive streak.

• The best of the best get excited about difficulty.
Pressure is not the enemy… it’s the opportunity.
Hard things build strong people.

• Stop listening to negative self-talk.
Start telling yourself:
“Because of this, something good will happen.”
“Everything always works out for me.”
“Every day and every way, things are getting better and better.”

This is exactly why Hoop Dreamz is NOT like all the rest.

Yes, player development matters. Skill work matters. Shooting, ball handling, footwork, decision-making all matter.

But we also know this:
Without personal development and performance development, players never become the best version of themselves.

One without the other limits your ceiling.

Registration is open for an exciting summer of basketball, skill-building, competition, and fun at Bergen Catholic High School — utilizing courts both indoors and outdoors!

🔥 Our Crusader Summer Camp is open to boys entering 3rd–9th grades, with 5 full-day camp weeks offered throughout June, July, and August. Camp runs Monday–Thursday, 9 AM–3 PM.

🔥 Plus, we’re offering our Elite Camp for boys entering grades 7–9 — designed for older players who are ready to level up, sharpen their game, and prepare for high school basketball. This is a half-day camp running Monday–Wednesday, 9 AM–12 PM.
