A recent study comparing 61 female volleyball players across elite, sub-elite, and amateur levels at Spain’s National Team level found something every volleyball coach and athlete should pay attention to:
👉 The higher-level players separated themselves through speed, power, explosiveness, strength, and dynamic balance.
Elite players demonstrated:
⚡ Higher hitting velocities on standing and jumping spikes
🚀 Greater maximal spike jump height
💪 Greater isometric strength
🏃♀️ Superior change-of-direction ability at higher levels
🎯 Better dynamic balance
And here’s the important takeaway:
Skill gets you into the game. Physical qualities determine how fast and explosively you can execute those skills.
A technically sound athlete who can jump higher, move faster, produce more force, and apply that force quickly has a significant advantage when the game gets faster and more competitive.
This is why volleyball athletes shouldn’t wait until they are “strong enough” or “skilled enough” to start performance training.
Build the physical tools that allow your skills to show up at a higher level.
At Redline Athletics Weston, our goal isn’t just to make athletes stronger in the weight room. We develop the speed, strength, power, explosiveness, reaction, and movement qualities that transfer to the court.
🏐 Train the athlete. Elevate the skill. Raise the level.
