A great update on all the structure protection that has happened at Tollgate to protect our cabins and other structures from the Hagen Fire. What a monumental undertaking. We are so blessed to have such amazing crews doing this work on our mountain.

Hagen Fire Update from Inciweb-

The fire has come into contact with Highway 204 in the Sprout Springs Ski Area. Firefighters worked tirelessly to hold it at the highway. There were several spots that crossed the road to the east that firefighters captured Sunday night.

Fire managers are looking to burn strategically along the southern end of Highway 204 to create a barrier for the advancing fire front. Fire managers have plans for structure protection in the Tollgate area including the Langdon Lake area but have not had to implement this plan yet.

Great evening watching these Chinook pilots pick up 1,000 gallons at a time and hurl it to the Hagen Fire in the North Fork of the Umatilla River. The line crews have worked tirelessly putting over 90 miles of hose and sprinklers to provide structure protection south of Hwy 204 at Tollgate. Were so thankful and blessed to have such amazing firefighters, line crews, water tenders, dozer operators and other personell totalling over 1,000 folks fighting this 40,000 acre monster.

The following evacuation levels have been increased from LEVEL 2 to LEVEL 3 on the Hagen Fire, Zones: UMC-1406020 & UMC-123-E.

The new LEVEL 3 area includes east of NF Road 3715, south of Highway 204, west of the Umatilla - Union county line, including Langdon Lake, Blue Mountain Camp, and McDougall Camp.

Considering the briefing provided by fire operations this morning and the Fire Weather Watch issued by the National Weather Service for Saturday, these areas have been increased to ensure the safety of the residents and to ensure fire resources have the ability to operate safety in the area.

For those of you worried about the Ruckel Warming Shelter and the Snocats. This should help us all sleep better tonight. The Shelter is wrapped in a foil to prevent it from catching on fire. Huge thanks to Corie from La Grande Snowdrifters for coming up and stashing both Tucker snocats away from the line of fire, no pun intended. We really need prayers that Mother Nature keeps the winds from heading our direction.

Well the good news is the fire is 3% contained and hasn't hit Tollgate yet. Unfortunately, the Hagen Fire now sits at 31,862 acres and continues to march towards Hwy 204 near Spout Springs and south towards Summerville and Elgin. Areas near Langdon Lake, Morning Creek Snopark and Spout Springs were upgraded earlier to Level 3 - Go Now evacuation. Woodland and Woodward Campgrounds have been closed by USFS.

There are 939 people working out of bases in Walla Walla, Elgin and Athena. The new spike camp in Elgin is supporting over three hundred firefighters to advance fire lines being built to the south and east of the Hagen Fire. Northwest Team 7 is working to contain these fires in collaboration with the Umatilla and Walla Walla County Sheriff’s offices, City of Walla Walla, state agencies, and the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation. The Oregon National Guard has activated an estimated 20 service members and four helicopters to fight the Hagen Fire in Umatilla and Union counties. The choppers and troops are working out of Pendleton.

Two HH-60M Black Haws based in Salem are teaming up with two CH-47 Chinooks with Bravo Company, First Battalion, 168th Aviation Regiment in Pendleton. They will use water buckets for aerial suppression. Water operations could begin as early as today (Wednesday). Source Elkhorn Media

Please continue to pray for the brave firefighters as they try to contain this monster before it destroys our paradise on earth!

Tollgate Peeps
What a smokey day to be on the mountain. Most of the cabin and residential areas are in Level 2 Evacuation at this point. May the Lord bless our brave firefighters so they can make some major progress on containing this monster called The Hagen Fire. The Paradise Fire is in the Mill Creek Watershed is also posing problems. The predicted winds and dry heat are not helping. Please pay attention to the notices from Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office, Umatilla County Emergency Management, Union County Sheriff’s Office, and the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation (CTUIR). They all need our prayers and positive thoughts right now.

Tollgate Peeps. If you are not aware, the Hagen Fire is burning just southwest of Tollgate and level 1 and 2 evacuation notices have been posted for areas west of the TTF clubhouse. Were thankful for the fire fighters and the work they are doing. Progress is tough since the fire is in the North Fork of the Umatilla River and access is challenging. Please pray for the firefighters and for progress to be made in stopping this fire before more families lose their homes.
