Here is my latest email to my members!

I found myself coaching both Saturday classes on something I want you all to think about:

Do not chase reps. Chase perfection.

Don’t chase the number in your head. Don’t chase fatigue. Don’t chase “one more” just because you think you should.

Chase perfect technique.

When your technique starts to break down, that’s your signal. That’s when it’s time to rest.

This is one of the biggest differences between working out and training.

Training requires you to be present.

Every time you step up to a kettlebell, barbell, or even your own bodyweight, you need to be fully there. Fully connected. Fully aware.

Strength is not built through mindless reps.

It’s built through intentional reps.

That means creating tension, owning positions, breathing correctly, and moving with purpose.

The quality of your reps will always matter more than the quantity.

Perfect reps build strength.

Sloppy reps create problems.

And over time, those problems can manifest as injury.

This got me thinking about why I’m stronger at 53 than I’ve ever been.

It’s not because I do more.

It’s because I’ve spent years learning how to do things better.

We’ve been practicing AXE training by Pavel at Bellbar, and loving it.

I’ve adapted the programming since most of my everyday (seasoned) athletes aren’t able to single-arm swing a 24kg kettlebell—and that’s ok. The principles still work.

The outcome? We’re getting stronger, building conditioning, and recovering better without beating ourselves up. And btw, that’s how we’re going to get up to single-arm swinging that 24k bell.
