Earning my black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is something I don’t even have the words to fully capture.
To receive it from Professor William , and to come full circle with him on this journey, means more to me than I can truly explain. The years, the lessons, the growth, it all started here with him, and to stand here now is incredibly humbling. A man that truly wants you to grow, remembers your difficulties and helps you become better.
This path hasn’t been easy. It’s been filled with ups and downs, moments of doubt, and times where I questioned if I was enough. Being a smaller woman in a sport that, at the time, was still evolving and dominated by larger training partners pushed me in ways I never expected. There were challenges, setbacks, and a lot of learning how to hold my own.
But there were also the victories, the small ones that built into something bigger over time. The long days, the hard rounds, the literal blood, sweat, and tears… all leading to this moment.
And through it all, I’ve had my husband Ben by my side. Always supporting me, always believing in me, and truly being my corner man in life. I wouldn’t be here without that kind of support.
This black belt isn’t just a belt. It’s a reflection of the journey, the resilience, and the commitment to keep showing up no matter what.
Forever a student. 🙏
