In 2011, the Cubs introduce Dale Sveum as the team's new manager, succeeding Mike Quade, who was fired by Chicago's new general manager Theo Epstein at the end of the season.

The 52nd manager in franchise history, whose managerial experience includes 16 games as Milwaukee's interim manager in 2008, is regarded as a no-nonsense baseball lifer who will emphasize the game's fundamentals while imposing "high standards of accountability" on the players.

Alyssa Nakkan was the first female head coach in Major League Baseball.

Alyssa Nakken joined the San Francisco Giants as the league's first full-time female head coach in July 2020. Nakken began working for the Giants as a front office intern in 2014.

She worked in a variety of capacities (player development, recruitment, international operations, and health/wellness) before becoming one of the team's assistant coaches.

MLB Featured Player of the week is from Los Angeles Dodgers..

Mookie Betts!

In 2020, Betts was traded from the Boston Red Sox to the Los Angeles Dodgers on February 10, 2020. On July 22, he signed a 12-year contract extension with the Dodgers through the 2032 season.

The deal was worth $365 million and included a $65 million signing bonus. This year, Betts was selected to the National League All-Star Team, his first appearance with the Dodgers. He did not play in the game due to injury, having battled back and left shoulder trouble this year.

He played in 122 games for the Dodgers, with a .264 batting average, 23 home runs and 58 RBI.

Cal Ripken holds the record for most consecutive games played with a record 2,632.

He shattered Lou Gehrig's record of 2,130 in 1995. Ripken's 15-year streak didn't end because he was hurt, nor as a punishment.

It was so inspiring to see him sacrifice his own stats for the sake of his team, even if it meant the end of an epic record.

It's that time of year again, Award season! 🏆

The Rawlings Gold Glove Awards, which recognize the best defensive players in each league, are among the most prestigious awards given out each offseason. 🧢

The nominees for each position were announced on Oct. 28, and the winners were announced on ESPN on Sunday night.🏅🏅🏅

When it comes to Gold Glove Awards, this year is historic because it is the first time that a single team has five winners in the same season. 💪

Here's a breakdown for NL :

⚾ First base: Paul Goldschmidt, Cardinals
⚾ Second base: Tommy Edman, Cardinals

Yuli Gurriel was the American League's batting champion in 2021.

Since Tony Oliva in 1971, he is the first Cuban player to win the batting title.

His final slash line was also included. 319/.383/.462, 15 home runs, 81 RBIs, 59 walks, and 68 strikeouts, a career high.

Tony Lazzeri was born December 6, 1903, in San Francisco.

As a boy, Tony loved boxing and baseball and had almost no interest in school. In 1925, he set a then-professional baseball record by hitting 60 home runs for the Salt Lake City Bees.

He was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1991. Although baseball management and teammates were aware of his physical condition, I doubt the ordinary fan of the time was.

Lazzeri never spoke publicly about the subject, and the press, whether aware of it or not, never did either. Lazzeri died young, at age 42, when he had a seizure while climbing the stairs in his home, falling and breaking his neck.
