The Hurricanes are hosting the Cory Hubbard Duals Tournament this Saturday (1/7/17 at Westhampton Beach High School! The Canes will kick things off at 9am against Hampton Bays as they attempt to defend their 2016 title! Come out to the High School and support the team. Lots of great food, t-shirts and great wrestling!

Canes Set Spring Season Team Record for Place Winners at the New York State Freestyle & Greco-Roman Wrestling Championships!!

Eight Hurricanes traveled to the Hudson Dome in Milton New York this past weekend to participate in the New York State Freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling championships. Led by graduating senior Dan McClure, the Canes set a team record for place winners (9) and gained valuable mat time. A total of 52 matches were wrestled over the weekend against some of the very best competition in the state. The Hurricanes who wrestled and their results are below:

Junior Tom Oshea (Junior Division) - 195lbs - 5 matches

8th Grader Chris Smith (Schoolboy Division) - 91lbs - 4 matches (3rd Place in Greco-Roman)

Freshman Jake Kass (Cadet Division) - 100lbs - 6 matches
(5th Place in Greco-Roman)

Junior David Cable (Junior Division) - 138lbs - 5 matches
(5th Place in Greco-Roman)

Junior Dane Mendoza (Junior Division) - 126lbs - 7 matches
(5th Place in Greco-Roman)

Junior Scott Rementer (Junior Division) - 8 matches
(5th Place in Greco-Roman)

Freshman Liam McIntyre (Cadet Division) - 8 matches
(2nd in Freestyle and 5th in Greco-Roman)

Senior Dan McClure (Junior Division) - 9 matches
(NY State Champion in Freestyle and 3rd in Greco-Roman)

Additionally, the team finished in the top 10 for team points with only 8 wrestlers! Congratulations to all of the wrestlers on a great team weekend!

Five Hurricanes participated in the Freestyle/Greco-Roman Tournament held in South Plainfield, NJ yesterday. Some very stiff competition present. The Canes all wrestled a minimum of 3-4 matches and got some great mat time! Long but very rewarding day!

8th grader Jason Montagna lost his second match at the Virginia Nationals 8-0 and was eliminated. Dan and Jason will both be back in the Spring practices shortly. We look forward to seeing them both at the next tournament! Well done Canes!

Senior Dan McClure is eliminated by Kyle Inlander from NJ (4th in state tournament). 8th grader Jason Montagna is pinned in his first match and heads to wrestle backs. The Hurricane family is proud of both of them for putting in the effort! Go Canes!

Senior Dan McClure wins his first two matches at the Virginia Nationals before running into 4-time Pennsylvania state Champ Dakota Geer. Dan lost 16-0 and will head into wrestle backs tomorrow to get himself in a position to place in the tournament. Good luck Dan!

The Hurricanes participated in the Southampton Freestyle/Greco-Roman Tournament on 3/26/2016. Eleven Canes came out to wrestle and logged a total of 50 matches. No wrestler had less than 4 matches. It was a great experience and the team had a good showing on the mats. Several Hurricanes are heading to the National Tournament in Virginia Beach this weekend (Folkstyle)! We wish them all the best of luck! Go Canes!
