NorthLake Family Recreation Center

NorthLake Family Recreation Center NorthLake Park is where community, recreation, and the great outdoors come together. The NorthLake Family Recreation Center was established in 1997.

From youth sports to family events, we provide a welcoming space for all ages to play, connect, and thrive—right here in the heart of Westfield. We are a small non-profit organization that has built and maintains a 16-acre complex in the Village of Westfield dedicated to providing recreational facilities to the citizens of Northern Chautauqua County. We function on an entirely volunteer basis. Boa

🌧️⚽ SURGE U12: BUILT FOR THIS ⚽🌧️

42 degrees. Steady rain. Tough opponent.

And still… Northlake Surge showed up.

A relentless push on offense, huge saves in net, and a full team effort from start to finish led to a 3-0 shutout win 💪🔥

You could hear it all game… players calling for each other, communicating, trusting the drop passes, working as one.

The weather tried to level the playing field…
but heart made the difference.

This is Surge soccer. ⚡🖤🧡

This is why this park matters… a place for kids to grow, compete, and become something bigger than themselves.

We’re at an important moment for NorthLake Family Recreation Center 🤍

For nearly 30 years, this park has been built, maintained, and grown by volunteers who care deeply about this community, our kids, and the opportunities this space provides. 🫶

As with many volunteer organizations, seasons shift—and right now, we are looking to welcome new board members who want to be part of what comes next.

If you’ve ever watched a game here, brought your child to play, or thought “this place matters”… this is your opportunity to step in and help shape its future. ⚾️ ⚽️ 🏀

We’re looking for individuals with a variety of strengths… organization, fundraising, communication, maintenance, community outreach… or simply a willingness to show up and be part of a team that cares.

This doesn’t fall on one person… it works when a group of people each bring what they can.

If you’re interested (or even just curious), please reach out. We’d love to talk.

And if you’re not in a position to join, sharing this post helps more than you know. 🙏

Let’s keep this space going… for the kids who are here now and the ones still coming.

Winter has a way of slowing everything down — and this one has really leaned into that. 🥶

NorthLake has been quiet these past few months. Cold days, frozen fields, and a whole lot of waiting for the thaw.

But even when the park is resting, there’s still a lot of thinking, planning, and dreaming happening behind the scenes. 💭

As we start to look toward spring (even if it feels far away right now), we’d love to hear from the community:

👉 What do you hope to see at NorthLake this year?
👉 What matters most to you when it comes to the park — fields, programs, events, improvements?

Outdoor soccer, practices, and busy evenings will be here before we know it.

For now, we’re grateful for the pause — and excited for what’s ahead.

Thanks for being part of this place with us. 🤍

🍁 As we move through November, we’re leaning fully into the spirit of Thanksgiving — gratitude, community, and togetherness.

This month, we want to shine a light on the volunteers who keep NorthLake going.

From mowing the fields…
to trimming, cleaning, repairing, and showing up whenever something needs doing…
this park runs because people give their time and energy all for the love of kids and this community..

A special thank-you to Andrew Webster, Matt Gambino, Dana Watkins Gambino, Thane Bodenmiller, Venn Blakely, and Tom Manzella —
and to the many others whose names aren’t listed here but whose efforts never go unnoticed. 🙏

NorthLake thrives because of you.

🍂 November is here — and with it, our season of gratitude begins. 🍁

It’s the month of thankfulness, giving, and reflection — and we have so much to be grateful for.

From the volunteers who stepped up to mow the fields all summer…
to the families who filled those same fields with laughter, teamwork, and memories this fall…
to the incredible response to our back-to-school supply drive that helped so many local students start the year strong —
NorthLake is a community effort through and through.

We’re thankful for every helping hand, every smiling face, and every small moment that keeps this park thriving.

A couple of weeks ago, we had the privilege of welcoming County Executive PJ Wendel, NYS Assemblyman Andrew Molitor, and NYS Senator George Borrello to NorthLake Family Recreation Center. ☀️

They toured the park, walked the fields, and took time to hear our vision for the future. Most importantly, they shared their support in helping us move closer to making those dreams a reality. 💚

From youth soccer and recreation programs to ideas like walking trails, sand volleyball courts, and improved facilities, their visit was an important step forward in shaping the future of this space for our community. 💫

We are grateful for their time, encouragement, and commitment to seeing NorthLake thrive!
