As we begin the Fall season, we want to make sure everyone is aligned on what to expect and, most importantly, on our objectives for the players in our U7 and U8 Rec programs.
⚽️ KINS — Kicking Is Not Soccer
For young players, it’s not about getting rid of the ball—it’s about becoming comfortable with it at their feet.
Dribble. Control. Change direction. Be creative.
Build confident players first. The passing will come.
⚽️ The Adult Game vs. The Child’s Game:
The children in front of us are not adults.
They have different physical, cognitive, and developmental needs. We need to allow them to experience the game in a way that is appropriate for their stage of development, rather than trying to make them play the adult version of soccer.
At U7 and U8, we are not focused on team shape, organization, or moving off the ball. Those concepts will come with time. Skipping developmental steps does not help players progress faster - it can actually get in the way of their development.
📣 Cheer. Don’t Coach.
Support their effort, celebrate their moments, and let the coaches do the coaching.
Give young players the freedom to make decisions, make mistakes, and learn.
See you on the field!
