The last two weeks have been a world wind of emotions. In August of 2020, playing in WYBSL here in Westerville, OH, a group asked if I would consider creating a travel softball team and be the Head Coach. As a result of that request the 10U Westerville Cyclones travel softball team and organization were born. We rebranded in August of 2024 into the Central Ohio Cyclones Softball and the creation of 2 16U teams. Now the Central Ohio Cyclones Softball Organization will close and will join the Ohio Hawks Organization starting August of 2026.
Between then and now I have had the privilege of coaching with some fantastic people, Tom LeMasters, Jason McQuown, Scott Shaffer, Jordan Krizmanich Sawyers, Rose Sawyers, Tom Townsend and April Gibbs. I have had the opportunity to help Coach some AMAZING young women, some who are still playing softball and others that have found passion and drive in other opportunities away from the diamond.
I could not have asked for a more story book ending than what we got the last two weeks. Central Ohio Cyclones - Black played their last tournament, A League of Their Own at Amco Park on July 25th & 26th, battled, went 6-1 on the weekend, and won the Championship to go out on top!
Then not to be out done, Central Ohio Cyclones - Blue went up to Cedar Point to play its final Cyclones' tournament July 31- Aug 2nd in the 2026 Great Lakes Classic at Sports Force Park went 6-0 in the tournament to go out on top as Champions!!
It has been an honor to lead the Cyclone Organization for the last 6 years and see such AMAZING TALENTED young women play the game of softball.
As we close the book on the Cyclones' Organization, a new book has already begun to be written as I will still be coaching along with April Gibbs, Jordan Sawyers and Rose Sawyers as we move to the Ohio Hawks Organization. We have 7 players coming with us from the Cyclones for a strong base as we move into our 2nd year of 16U Softball. We will be competing regionally at the open/A level in multiple College Showcases to do our best with the help of the Ohio Hawk Organization, to get these young women to the college level. We have already brought in some awesome talent to go with our base and are still looking for a couple of pieces to finalize our Ohio Hawks - Gibbs team roster, so if you know of a top pitcher looking for a home please have their family reach out to us.
Thank you to EVERYONE that has been a part of the Cyclones Family from coaches, players, parents, families, and sponsors. A special thank you to my wife, Erin Bryan Toler , that helped with all the Cyclones administration stuff and for allowing me to have had this opportunity to lead this organization and for putting up with me during the PAINFUL tryout portion of every season 😂😂!!
