Home bakers, start 2022 with this simple idea.🤩

✅Create a place to keep all the fantastic things your customers say about your business.

As a marketer, I know how vital saving testimonials and reviews are, but this is different. This is for YOU.

The next time you have a miserable day or someone says something hurtful about your business; you can go to this file for a pick-me-up.✨

As home bakery business owners, we all know that every day is sunshine and sweets, but it's important not to focus on negative things.

👉Do you have a place you keep all the wonderful things your customer say?

Do this one thing and your future self will thank you 🙏

Sometimes when I am busy and considering doing a task, I stop and think: will my future self be thrilled I did this?🧐

If the answer is yes, then I do it. Setting up my annual calendar is one of those tasks.

For 15 minutes of effort today, I will reap the rewards all year long. And, you can too.

In my latest blog post, I go through setting up your calendar for next year.

Repeat after me: Be brave enough to bad at something new.

Seriously, read that again.

Here is an example from my own life. Reels was freaking me out. The word around Instagram was that Reels were getting pushed by the algorithm, and lots of people were watching the new feature.

I am not a good dancer 💃 and a mediocre pointer for sure. I had no idea what I was doing on Reels, but I did it.

My last one was better than my first one. My 51st Reel will be better than what I did yesterday.

It's not perfect and was hella uncomfortable, but I pushed through and did it. You are never going to be really good at anything if you don't keep at it.

Think about the first cake you iced or cookie you decorated. How much have you improved since you started?

As a business owner, are you afraid of trying something new? My message to you, my friend, is to be brave and try it.

👉Double tap if you needed to hear this today.

Happy New Year!!🥳🎉🥳

Ever feel like you need Wonder Woman's bracelets?

We have all been there. A customer who thinks you charge too much.

Some people do not understand the time and effort that goes into baking a cake or decorating cookies. It's ok. You can politely educate them and keep it moving.

Don't let someone diminish your self-confidence and work. That person is not your customer.

Find other customers.

The thing about overnight successes....

When you stop and really look, it’s usually a person who worked hard consistently, and eventually, it paid off.

Stop overthinking, do the work, and have patience. 🪴

Home bakers, are you obsessing about the wrong things?

As a business owner, you are going to get negative comments.

👉My advice, don't obsess about them.

Take the opportunity to see if there is something to learn from the experience. Should you review your policies? Or what your communications say for future customers?

✅But mostly, focus on the customers who appreciate your hard work. Those folks know you put your heart and soul into your business and serving their needs.

❤️Double tap if you agree!

When was the last time you let someone zap your energy? 🧐

You have to set boundaries and enforce them, especially as a busy home baker juggling life and a small business.

Standing up for yourself can be hard but so worthwhile when you stop letting others take too much. Too much time. Too much energy.

You need to focus and give space to people who lift you up!

👉Double tap if you can relate

Have you ever received an email about an amazing opportunity for you to donate 150 decorated cookies?

But, it's great visibility for you.
But, it's going to help your business.
But, you wait and see, you will get tons of orders from this.

I never got any business from donating products for goodie bags, etc.

I did donate, but I did it because I believed in the cause and wanted to be supportive. I had no expectations of reciprocity.

My advice to you, think carefully about the work involved and the promises being made before you agree to donate your time and money.

How do you handle requests to work for free? Let me know in the comments.

Are you undercharging?🧐 Now is the time to charge what your worth and educate your customers.

Some customers don’t understand:

✅How much time it took you to perfect your recipes

✅How much practice, time, and effort it takes to “whip up” an order

✅How long it takes to handle customer service, shop, prep, bake, decorate, package, and clean up

✅How expensive ingredients and packaging can be

✅You have business expenses

It’s important to politely educate customers.

You need to know how long it takes to make an item and how much it costs you in ingredients and supplies. That’s your starting point and you increase your pricing from there.

Double tap if you agree! ❤️ If you don’t, let me know in the comments. 👇
