As we head into our summer break, I just wanted to say thank you!
Whether you signed up for classes, joined us at an open skate that helped support one of our fundraising nights, or simply cheered on Skate Lab along the way, you've made this year something really special.
This season has been full of growth. We tried new things, welcomed new skaters, explored different styles of skating, hosted guest workshops, and raised money for some incredible local causes. I'm so grateful for this community and for everyone who has been part of it.
A special thank you to Zelda and Kaitlin, and to every skater who shows up each week with such incredible energy and who just *gets* the joy and positivity that skating can bring.
Before I started derby, if you'd asked whether I could do it, I prob would have laughed and said, "No way." Taking on Skate Lab felt much the same at first. But, like so many things on skates, it turns out I was just a little braver than I thought.
That's one of the things I love most about skating. It reminds us that growth is often a little scary, a little disorienting, and always worth it. Thank you for showing up as your authentic, glorious selves. I truly think that's what makes this community so special.
THANK YOU!
Maine Roller Derby Boot Camp
There are still *five sessions remaining*, and skaters can jump in at any time. It's a great opportunity to build skills, meet current Maine Roller Derby members, and learn more about the sport before the Fresh Muscle Program begins in September.
For anyone interested in the boot camp, registration and details are available here:

Summer Meet-Ups
Instead of posting a set outdoor skating schedule this summer, we'll send out emails whenever we're planning a skate. Last year's schedule seemed to get rained out more often than not, so we're hoping this approach will give us a little more flexibility.
We're hoping to organize some trail skates as well as some Friday evening meet-ups at the Cornelia Warren SportCourt (58 Lincoln Street in Westbrook).
Keep an eye on your inbox for meet-up updates!
*Looking Ahead*
We're hoping to start our next Skate Lab session in September, though dates and details are still in the works. Keep an eye on your inbox—we'll share more as soon as we can!
Have a wonderful summer, and I hope to see many of you on skates over the next few months!
