Join Skate Lab for a one-night workshop with Ashley Holtkamp! Ashley will be teaching some fundamentals of artistic skating along with the basics of the progressive tango dance pattern and steps. This Skate Lab workshop is an opportunity to see skating through a different lens, get curious and try something new and fun with no pressure in a fun supportive atmosphere.

Details:
• Date: Wednesday, June 17
• Time: 5–7 PM
• Cost: $25
• Who can attend: Current and past skaters, experienced skaters or skaters who have skating experience through a derby league and meet our participant policy.
• Note: You do not have to have taken the previous workshop to signup for this one.

Ashley Holtkamp is a Registered USA Roller Sports Coach, Judge, Referee, and Athlete. A competitive artistic roller skater since 1999, Ashley has qualified for 12 USA Roller Sports National Championships, consistently placing in the top 10 and earning three gold, four silver, and six bronze medals over the years. She is also super fun!

🛼 Intro to Artistic Skating and Tango Guest Workshop with Ashley Holtkamp

This one-night workshop with Ashley Holtkamp will focus on the creative side of skating—flow, expression, and artistic movement—and will still have the fun, supportive Skate Lab vibe. We will learn some fundamentals of artistic skating along with the basics of the progressive tango dance pattern and steps. This Skate Lab workshop is an opportunity to try skating through a different lens, get curious and try something new and fun with no pressure.

Details:
• Date: Wednesday, June 17
• Time: 5–7 PM
• Cost: $25
• Who can attend: Current and past skaters, an experienced skater or skaters who have skating experience through a derby league.

One-night Skate Lab Artistic Skating Intro Workshop with Ashley Holtkamp – Wednesday June 17 5-7pm

Join us for a special one-night Skate Lab workshop experience with guest coach Ashley Holtkamp, who will introduce artistic skating concepts in a way that connects directly to the skills you already use.

In our previous workshop we learned the basics of the Glide Waltz, which we will review briefly. This workshop will introduce the Progressive Tango: steps, diagram, and music. Combining foundations into the full pattern sequence. You do not have to have taken the previous workshop to signup for this one.

This Skate Lab workshop is an opportunity to try a different lens, get curious, and experience how familiar movement can feel when approached with flow, posture, and intention.

If you’ve been planning to join the next Skate Lab session, this is your final reminder to sign up.

Expect a supportive weekly skate night with drills, open skating, roller dance basics, and plenty of room to experiment and build confidence at your own pace. This session is open to returning skaters (or experienced skaters—please reach out if you’ve never skated with us before registering).

Registration for our Spring Skate Lab session closes Tuesday, April 28 at midnight. We already have a great group forming and would love to see a few more of you join us.

🛼 Spring Skate Lab – 6 Week Session

Dates: April 30 – June 11
Time: Thursdays, 5–7 PM
Note: No class May 28

This session is open to returning skaters (or experienced skaters—please reach out if you’ve never skated with us before registering). We’ll keep building skills through drills, roller dance, practice time, and plenty of open skating in our supportive and fun focused Skate Lab environment.

It’s also our last session before our summer break, so come get some silliness on skates with us for a few more weeks!

This will be our last Skate Lab session before our summer break, so it’s a great chance to get a few more weeks of skating in together before the season pauses.

Registration is open for our Spring Skate Lab session, and we’d love to keep rolling with you before we head into summer.

Spring Skate Lab – 6 Week Session
When: Thursdays, 5–7 PM
Dates: April 30–June 11
Note: No class May 28

Skate Fundraiser/Open Skate: Tuesday, June 9

This session is open to previous skaters, (or experienced skaters - please reach out if you’ve never skated with us before registering) and focuses on building skills through practice, drills, roller dance, and plenty of open skating time in our usual supportive Skate Lab environment. It’s also our last session before a summer break, so it’s a great chance to keep the momentum going and skate together before we pause for the summer season. I’ll also organize some casual summer meetups for trail and outdoor rink skating to keep us rolling over break!

✨ DRILL OF THE WEEK: Close Proximity skating, communication and awareness!

🛼 Skaters started off high-fiving and hip bumping in groups of two. After that each group picked a mystery item to describe and pass back and forth. Eventually all the groups merged together into one giant giggling pace line!
