Week 5 of our NYBA Open Run is Wednesday. Even if you missed the first four you can still join. Our goal is simple: get kids out on the courts playing hoop over the summer, have some fun, and get their game ready for Travel Basketball this fall. This is an informal, pick-up style program. We'll help the kids organize, teach them how to keep score and call their own fouls, and let them play.

We will send notification out if we get rain on Wednesday and have to move to Thursday.

We're excited to announce we're launching a Summer Open Run program this year.
Our goal is simple: get kids out on the courts playing hoop over the summer, have some fun, and get their game ready for Travel Basketball this fall. This is an informal, pick-up style program. We'll help the kids organize, teach them how to keep score and call their own fouls, and let them play.

Volunteer coaches will be there to help organize the kids and ensure everyone is safe, but we're intentionally not going to coach or run drills. The whole point is to let them get some real play time in.

Games are split by grade and by boys and girls. Incoming grades 4–5 (last year's 3–4) play in the earlier slot, and incoming grades 6–8 (last year's 5–7) play in the later one.

When: Wednesday nights, July 22 – August 19 (rain backup: Thursday)
Where: Melican Middle School, Northborough — outdoor courts to the left of the building as you face the front
Cost: Free
Incoming grades 4–5 (boys & girls): 5:45 – 7:00 PM
Incoming grades 6–8 (boys & girls): 7:00 – 8:15 PM

Bring water and wear your reversible NYBA basketball jersey

🏀 Northboro’s Hustle & Heart Heroes

From D6 in 4th grade to a #1 seed in D3 by 8th grade, this team’s journey is the definition of growth, grit, and commitment.

Our 8th Grade Northboro Boys Travel Team (nicknamed themselves NHD in 4th grade – Northborough Hustle & Defend) closed out their final season with an incredible run—earning the #1 seed heading into the playoffs and battling their way to the Final Four, where they fell by just 8 points to the eventual champions.

But this season—and this team—is about so much more than results.

Since day one, their identity has been clear:
💪 Hustle. Defense. Team-first mentality.

🏀 Northboro’s Final-Season Phenoms

What a way to finish! Our 8th Grade Northboro Girls Travel Basketball Team capped off their final year in the program with an incredible season.

⭐ Season Highlights
• 10–2 Regular Season Record
• Divisional Champions
• 1–1 in the Playoffs
• 🏆 Board 26 Basketball Tournament Champions

This talented group was led by Head Coach Ron McMenemy (who also thrilled the crowd by sinking the half-court shot at our March Madness family event!) and Assistant Coach Gil Sustache. Big thanks to Craig Wencis for helping out as well.

We are so proud of these players and all they’ve accomplished in their final year with the program. Thank you for representing Northboro basketball with heart, hustle, and teamwork. We can’t wait to see what the future holds for this amazing group!

👏 Congratulations on an unforgettable season! We wish them the best of luck in their future basketball careers!
