Tournament Rules- Any rule not covered will be referred to the ASA Softball Rule Book
1. This is a COMMUNITY EVENT to raise funds for renovations and upkeep of the field. Refer to the Round Robin Tournament Schedule for the Base Umpire duties. Losing Team in single elimination games will provide two base umpires for the following game. Arrange for your team to provide umpires according to this schedule ahead of time please! Seeding of the Single Elimination Tournament will be determined by Win/Loss Record, Head- to- Head, Teams run differential and the Flip of the coin. Top Eight Teams go on to the Single Elimination Tournament.
2. All umpires are volunteers- show patience and respect. If a player is kicked out of a game, he is out of the tournament.
3. One hour and 10 minute time limit: No inning will begin after the 65th minute. There will be No limit on the Championship Game. Be at the game 30 minutes early and if not there you will be subject to forfeit.
4. Run Rule: Six Innings. 15 after three, 10 after five
5. Ground Rules: Make a play on any batted ball. There are no ground rules covering double, triple or four base awards. Out of play area will be marked by paint. Any changes or additions will be announced.
6. Player substitutions: All teams will turn in a roster of no more than 16 players. Each player may be on ONE roster only. You may use an extra hitter and have 11 in the batting order. Pinch runners may be used in case of injury only. Pinch runner must be whoever made the last out.
7. There must be a minimum of eight players on the field per team at all times. If a team does not have eight players the game will be forfeited.
8. Modified Pitch: The pitcher may throw the ball as fast as he desires. Windmill motion is not allowed. The ball must be delivered underhanded. Submarine/side armed style is not allowed. Wrist may not be “cocked”. Palm and ball must face the ground through wind up and remain parallel with the body through delivery illegal pitches will be called ball. If player cannot maintain correct pitching style they will be asked to play different position.
9. Strike zone: The strike zone shall be called from the shoulder to the knee.
10. Batter hit by pitched ball shall be awarded first base. The ball is dead. Batter must avoid being hit.
11. Third strike dropped: If first base is not occupied, the batter may attempt to advance to first base. If first base is occupied the batter is out unless there are two outs. If there are two outs the batter may attempt to advance to first base even while first is occupied. The ball is alive.
12. Third strike foul: Third strike fouled is an automatic out. The ball is dead unless a fly is caught, at which time runners may advance at their own peril.
13. Bunting: Bunting is allowed.
14. Stealing: Base runners may steal. The runner cannot leave the base before the ball has been released from the pitcher’s hand. If the runner leaves too early, he shall be called out. THERE WILL BE NO WARNING- FIRST OFFENSE WILL RESULT IN AN OUT, the rest of the play will continue.
15. Sliding: The runner is required to slide into all contested bases. If the runner fails to slide and is involved in a collision with a defending player, the runner shall be called out if lay is blatant, runner shall be ejected from the game.
16. Infield fly rule: Infield fly rule is in effect.
17. All bats and softballs will be provided by the tournament, no other bats will be allowed. A $100 fine will be assessed for maliciously breaking a bat. The fine must be paid before your next game.
18. Each team is required to provide a person to either run the scorebook or the score board during their game.
