UofT Undergraduate Immunology Students' Association - IMMSA

OQUIC is a cross-provincial, 2-day symposium of undergraduate immunology research. Students throughout Ontario and Québec are hosted at the University of Toronto and allowed to present their research findings through a competitive oral presentation. In addition to students from the University of Toronto, former OQUIC participants include students of Western University, McGill University, Waterloo University, Queen’s University, McMaster University, and Université de Montréal. OQUIC’s 2-day schedule includes competitive presentations, keynote presentations from world-class immunology researchers, networking opportunities, and social mixers.

OQUIC is completely FREE for attendees. OQUIC’s 2-day schedule includes:
competitive presentations, keynote presentations from Dr. Michele Anderson and Dr. Martin Olivier, networking opportunities, and more!

We are currently calling for abstracts! The deadline is Friday, March 3rd, 2023, at 11:59 pm EST. Please email [email protected] for any questions.

IMMSA and IGSA are collaborating again to bring you this year’s Immunology apparel sale of t-shirts and quarter-zip sweaters. We are excited to announce a logo design competition to decide this year’s design. Submit your design to us at [email protected] with the subject title “Logo design - First name, Last name” by Saturday, Feb. 18th (black-and-white image, PNG format) and if your design wins the most votes, you’ll win a FREE shirt or sweater with your design on it!! IMMSA is happy to announce that this year, we will be re-launching our mentorship program for the 2022-2023 school year! If you’re a 1st or 2nd year seeking guidance about research opportunities navigating programs, exams, or even just finding your way on campus, this program gives you an opportunity with people who’ve done it all! If you’re a 3rd or 4th year looking to get more involved with the IMM student body, this is a perfect opportunity to pass down everything you’ve learned throughout your academic career!

Applications open today, on September 1st and will remain open until September 16th. Our first mentorship meetup will be on the 23rd of September from 3-4pm. We hope to see you there 😊!’

Hi Immunologists! 

Our ‘Intro to Immunology Techniques (IIT)’ series is back for it’s 3rd installment, this time covering a technique you may not have heard of: Seahorse! The Seahorse Extracellular Flux Analyzer provides real-time information about cell metabolism and is being implemented in fields like cancer immunotherapy to better understand how cells behave before and after treatment.

We’re lucky to be joined by Meghan Kates, a PhD candidate in the Ohashi lab who uses this technique in her own research and can answer any questions you may have! IIT: Seahorse will be held on Monday, March 21st from 4:00-4:45pm, and the Zoom information is listed below:
