Ursa Major Barbell With Covid shutting the world down I needed to find a hobby I could begin to do indoors.

Ursa Major Barbell is West Des Moines newest strength building facility focusing on providing the best powerlifting, bodybuiling & Olympic lifting equipment and training in the Des Moines Metro Buying a bar & 315lbs of plates I began powerlifting training in March of 2020. While facilties opened and closed in California I began to conistently work towards building my strength. Not having a conistent gym to train in as the public policy opened and closed businesses in till mid 2021 I hadn't found conistency, yet was intruiged by the process. Deciding to begin to train for my 1st competetion in 2022 I began charting what would be a passionate learning endeavor improving my concistency, discipline and approach towards fitness. With my first meeting bring a 441lbs squat, 276lbs bench, 546lbs deadlift for a 1263 total I was hooked into the sport of powerlifting. Today with 1 rep maxes of 632.5 squat, 308.5lbs bench & 637 deadlifting I've decided to open a gym to serve the powerlifting, bodybuilding & Olympic lifting community. With over 4500' of space 4000lbs of kilo plates, 7 bench & squat stations, 4 deadlift platforms, 2 two Olympic lifting platforms, 13 Cybex machines, 18 Texas power bars & 2650lbs of dumbells Ursa Major Barebell is ready to bring a premier strength building facility to West Des Moines with a grand opening of May 1st 2025.

I need some help! I’m looking to sponsor a high school team, fire fighting hall or police station in West Des Des Moines or Waukee.

I’ve got 12 week programs built out and the sponsored group would be able to come in once or twice a month to train.

The goal here is to get connected with a community group and help them reach new levels of personal fitness and strength capabilities.

🚨Couple quick updates please make sure you have signed your waiver on Fitness GM. 🚨

The processing company I use for memberships revoked access if waiver is not signed. This isn’t something I have control over, it’s how they set up their system.

The other reason access can be revoked is if your membership payment not being made so please make sure you have your payments up-to-date

Lastly please make sure you take off your 🚨shoes as well as construction boots upon entering the building 🚨as dirt and debris is tracked throughout the building when we use outside shoes and boots in the building. It takes time and energy to look through the videos to figure out who it and I’ll have to charge if this is a habitual offense.
