Before practice for their highly anticipated showdown against the Toronto Tempo, head coach Stephanie White asked the entire Indiana Fever team to gather at center court.
Not to discuss tactics.
Not to review drills.
But to say what she believed needed to be felt – not just coached.

Then she spoke:
“We didn’t get here by chance. We earned every single step. We fought through every doubt, every painful night, every setback that was supposed to knock us down. People questioned us. People counted us out. There were moments when walking away would have been easier than fighting back. And yet – look around. You’re still here. Still fighting. Still believing. Still standing together.”
Her voice lowered, becoming steady, personal, and deeply sincere.
“Now there’s only one game ahead of us. Toronto. Nothing before this moment matters, and nothing beyond it deserves our attention yet. And whatever happens when we step onto that court, understand this—no one can take this journey away from you. No scoreboard can erase your sacrifices. No final result can erase the battles you survived or the bond you built together.”
A pause. Complete silence. No one looked away. Every word seemed to carry the weight of an entire season.
“Today, empty the tank. Give everything you have. Fight for the woman standing beside you. Fight for this jersey. Fight for Indiana. Fight for every sacrifice, every bruise, every tear, every early morning and every difficult night that brought you to this moment. And when that final buzzer sounds—win or lose—I want you to walk off that court with your head held high and absolutely nothing left to regret… because you gave this team everything inside you.”
