Trent Miner saved 30 of 30 in a documentary worthy performance as Utah won 2-0 on Friday night. Miner, Grizz Shuts Outs Steelheads 2-0

Boise, Idaho - Luke Martin scored 13:16 into the third period to break a scoreless tie and James Shearer scored his first pro goal with 1:57 left as the Utah Grizzlies won 2-0 behind a 30 save shutout from Trent Miner as they defeated the Idaho Steelheads on a Friday night at Idaho Central Arena.

Neither team scored in the first 2 periods of play. It was the latest into a Grizzlies game this season before the first goal in a game was scored. Martin scored what turned out to be the game winner with 6:44 left in regulation. It's Martin's 2nd game winner of the season. The other came on January 31 at Orlando.

James Shearer scored an empty net goal to seal the deal. Shearer and Johnny Walker were each making their pro debut with Utah and Idaho's Jack Becker also made his debut. Walker and Becker were teammates at Arizona State this season. Walker and Brian Bowen got the assists on the Martin goal.

Trent Miner earned his league leading 5th shutout of the season. Miner now has 6 professional shutouts in only 31 games. It was his first shutout since December 15, 2021 vs Wichita. It's his 2nd shutout vs Idaho this season as he saved all 21 Steelheads shots on October 24, 2021.

Idaho outshot Utah 30 to 14. Brian Bowen led Utah with 3 shots. Bowen leads the team with 197 shots this season. The Grizz stay in first place with a .625 points percentage. Tardif was outstanding in the 3-game series last week, scoring 8 points (5 goals, 3 assists). Shearer played at the University of Calgary for 3 seasons from 2018-2020 and the 2021-22 season which just completed. Shearer had 32 points (11 goals, 21 assists) in 3 seasons. Shearer had a combined +31 rating in 3 seasons.
Before his college days Shearer played in the WHL with the Brandon Wheat Kings for 3 seasons from 2015-2018. Shearer was captain of the Wheat Kings in the 2017-18 season. His best statistical season in Brandon was in the 2016-17 campaign where he had 31 points (8 goals, 23 assists) in 65 games. West Valley City, Utah – Forward Nick Henry has been reassigned to the Utah Grizzlies. He comes over from the AHL’s Colorado Eagles.
Henry has played in 4 games with Utah this season, scoring 2 points (1 goal, 1 assist). The 3rd year pro has played in 12 games with Utah over a 3 year period. Nick has 13 shots on goal for Utah this season. He has also appeared in 28 games this season with the Eagles and has 2 goals and 4 assists. Henry has played in 87 games with Colorado (AHL) since he turned pro towards the end of the 2018-19 season.
