Labor Day Basketball is back!

🚨ANNOUNCEMENT: FYBA To Join The U.S. Filipino Basketball Association Labor Day Tournament 2019

Earlier this year, the FYBA’s board of directors issued a directive to explore options for FYBA’s participation in a Fil-Am Labor Day Basketball Tournament. We believed it was time to find an inter-city tournament that exposed our players to more and better Fil-Am competition.

After examining several tournament options, which included the FBA-NA Tournament in Chicago, returning to NABA in Washington DC (we were actually denied by NABA Commissioner Damasco), or continuing with the FBIT in New Jersey, we have decided to enter the USFBA Tournament, hosted by FABA of Metro DC, which will be held in Boyds, MD from August 31 to September 1.

Of all the options, USFBA provides the strongest competition. There are 15 participating cities from all over the country, including teams from Daly City, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Sacramento CA and Fil-Am basketball powerhouse Jacksonville FSA, which is one of the best organizations on the East Coast.

The FYBA delegation is entering as a separate entity representing “Washington DC.” We plan to enter teams in all thirteen divisions, including two teams in the 17u division featuring our best high school and college basketball prospects, including Travis Roberts, Jaden Ignacio, Donovan Staples, Gabe Calalang, Rico Limcaoco, Justin Zavala, Josh Newland, and Tahj Summey among many others.

The USFBA organizers have been very welcoming, and have accommodated many of our requests. We believe 4th Annual USFBA Labor Day Tournament will be a great platform to showcase our FYBA basketball talents.

The FYBA and the PUSO Foundation are pleased to announced the second annual 🇵🇭🇺🇸Fil-Am Super Showcase on Sunday January 6th 4:30-8:30 pm, featuring PUSO ambassador Jordan Bartlett and the best Fil-Am basketball talent from the DMV. All proceeds to benefit the PUSO Foundation, which serves underprivileged families in the Philippines. Food, music, halftime show, basketball, service work and more!
