Being a trainer is a wonderful opportunity to get to know people when they're vulnerable and to celebrate small and big wins that only the two of you would truly appreciate. It's a special gift that the two of you share. I always say that the right clients find me and all of them are special to me. There are some that just hit you in a deep way...I lost one of those clients this morning who was an amazing human, deeply love by his friends an community and I feel so lucky I had time to know him. It just reminded me that you just never know what could happen tomorrow...enjoy your day deeply.

And a huge thank you to all my clients that share their life with me.

There's no single "natural" or ideal foot strike pattern, instead there is functional variability.

Contrary to popular assumptions, not all habitually barefoot runners use forefoot strikes (FFS).

Many barefoot runners use midfoot (MFS) or even rearfoot strikes (RFS

What determines foot striking patterns are:

- Terrrain
- Individual's anatomy
- Medical history
- Shoe choice
- Speed
- Foot Posture Index

Instead of reducing running to a singular correct form, appreciate the natural human variability in functionality.

I had a new client come in who's been going to a different studio who told me all the things she wants to work on. Then I explained to her that we can do fitness or pilates, not that you can't get fit from pilates but they are different disciplines. I always start clients with an assessment of their bodies and a language they can utilize outside thecstudio. They need to start with a fundamental knowledge and a true understanding of all of the ways and reasons we do the work and initially its not a tough workout as you need the basics. Here's her comments the next day:

"Good morning! I just want to update you because I know you'd be happy if I was sore. Im not but i do feel a noticeable postural and structural shift in myself. I feel like I'm posturing differently in a really beneficial way. Like I feel more confident. It's not night and day because its too soon but there's a shift and its affecting my mood in a really positive way. I really love what we're doing and I don't want to change it. I want to continue at this pace, to keep this very precise flow. Because I feel if I continue I'm going to have a different presence."

This is why I do what I do and value the years of training I've had!
