The Lady Huskies say goodbye to 4 seniors in 2023, Marina Aulger, Audrey Franks, Daylie Rickard and Issy Vacco. 4 program records were broken this year. Marina Aulger set the single season homerun record with 9. (Kristen Warner in 2009 and Kerri Manley in 2014 each hit 7 homeruns previously)
Daylie Rickard set the single season hit record with 55 hits (Courtney Mackey in 2014, Kerri Manley in 2014 and Audrey Franks in 2021 had 50 hits previously). WCAL Champs!!! After Capturing the programs 26th Sectional title last night, the Lady Huskies travelled to Rittman tonight, beating the Indians 14-0 in 5 innings to clinch a share of the WCAL championship, the 7th for the program and first since 2014. Congratulations girls!!!! Daylie Rickard started on the mound for the Huskies and threw the complete game, no hitter, surrendering 2 walks and striking out 8. Leading the 14 hit offensive attack for the Lady Huskies was Allysa Troyan with 3 hits, including a grand slam homerun with 5 RBIs, Kirsten Boreman with 3 hits and an RBI, Olivia Amstutz with 2 hits, including a double with an RBI and Daylie with 2 doubles and an RBI. Chipping in was Marina Aulger with a 2 rbi single and Audrey Franks with an RBI double. Congratulations to our pitching duo of Daylie (10 wins) and Olivia (11 wins) on becoming the first tandem of pitchers in program history to record double digit wins in the same season. The 21-4 Lady Huskies will return to tournament action on Tuesday for a District semifinal clash with Keystone in Wellington at 5:00. Go Huskies!!!

The Lady Huskies hosted Cuyahoga Heights with a sectional title on the line and came away with the 4-0 victory. In a game that hits were hard to come by, Olivia Amstutz dominated on the mound, throwing the complete game shut out while the Huskies made the most of their opportunities at the plate. Daylie Rickard lead off the bottom of the first with an 8 pitch walk, followed by a bunt single by Audrey Franks and another walk to Marina Aulger. Taylor Wurst would have the biggest hit of the game with a 2 rbi single and the Lady Huskies added one more run in the first when a walk to Kelsee Smith forced in a run. Coralyn Hall would add an insurance run in the bottom of the 3rd inning on an rbi single, scoring courtesy runner, Kaylee Cherry. Three Husky hits and 4 runs was more than enough as Olivia only gave up 2 hits and 3 walks, striking out 11. The Lady Huskies advance to the district semifinals on Tuesday in Wellington at 5:00 against Keystone. But, before continuing on the tournament trail, the girls will travel to Rittman tomorrow at 5:00 to play for a share of the WCAL title. Go Huskies!!!

It is Senior night!!! Can’t say enough about this incredible group of seniors, these 4 girls (Issy, Marina, Audrey and Daylie) are best friends and have grown up together. Marina, Daylie and Audrey will graduate as 4 year letter winners but lost their freshman season to Covid. In honor of these incredible workers, I want to share their combined stats with one tournament run to go. They currently have a record of 55-23. They have played in a combined 232 games with 292 hits in 704 at bats for a .415 batting average. Which is astounding considering that the career record for batting average by an individual at Northwestern is .422. They have combined for 95 extra base hits, including 20 Homeruns. They have scored 220 runs with 223 RBIs. Audrey and Daylie have combined to pitch 284 innings, striking out 250 girls with 30 pitching victories. Marina holds the single season Homerun record at Northwestern and Daylie holds the single season record for hits, passing Audrey. A few more school softball records are in these girl’s sight as they look for one more, long tournament run. Go Huskies!!!
