The icing on the cake to an incredible year. 🏆 Congratulations to Marcus Jackson ('26) on being named the 2025-26 Gatorade National Boys Soccer Player of the Year. A historic honor for a historic player.

Congratulations to West Orange High School senior Marcus Jackson ('26) on being named the 2025-26 Gatorade National Boys Soccer Player of the Year. Selected from nearly 500,000 high school soccer players across the country, Marcus joins an elite group of past winners and cements his place among the most accomplished student-athletes in school history.

What makes this recognition even more special is that it celebrates far more than athletic success. The Gatorade Player of the Year award recognizes excellence in athletics, academics, and character, and Marcus embodies all three. Whether representing West Orange on the soccer field, maintaining a strong GPA in the classroom, volunteering throughout the community, or mentoring the next generation of players, Marcus has consistently set the standard for what it means to be a student-athlete.

The West Orange Soccer family mourns the loss of one of our biggest supporters, Dr. Paul Banks. For years, Dr. Banks was more than a fan. He was a familiar face on the sidelines, a proud supporter of West Orange Soccer, and someone who never missed an opportunity to celebrate the accomplishments of our players, coaches, and community. His words of encouragement, his presence at games, and his genuine love for West Orange made a lasting impact on so many.

Above all else, he was a devoted husband, father, friend, and family man whose pride in his sons and the Mountaineer community was evident in everything he did.

Thank you, Paul, for every cheer, every post, every conversation, and every moment you spent supporting our program. Your legacy will live on through the countless lives you touched.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Banks family during this difficult time.

West Orange High School Boys Soccer standout Marcus Jackson ('26) has been named the 2025-26 Gatorade New Jersey Boys Soccer Player of the Year, recognizing him as the top high school boys soccer player in the state. The UCLA commit helped lead the Mountaineers to a 22-2 record and a Section 1, Group 4 championship while earning national recognition along the way. ⚽

Among icons like Claudio Reyna, Carli Lloyd, and Tim Howard are two West Orange standouts: Marcus Jackson ('26) and Brayan Martinez ('06).

Champions once. Brothers always. A legacy the next generation will chase. Every ring tells a story of sacrifice, resilience, belief, and a group that chose to fight for each other through every moment that mattered. The 2025 West Orange Boys Soccer team did more than win a state championship. They built a brotherhood connected for life and set a standard that will live in this program forever. Somewhere, a future Mountaineer is watching this, dreaming a little bigger because of what this team made possible. 💍🏆💙
