Yesterday members from all 3 SMAA locations went out and competed GFU . Some won, some lost. But EVERYONE left it all on the mat!

From our WM location; Cutler, Aaron,Kira and Daniel(who floats between WM and HQ,but we still claim him) went out and hit their goals with victories.

Those that didn’t get their hands raised still showed heart and grit by going out and giving it their all!

Congrats to the entire SMAA team! We’re proud of each one of you! Now, it’s back to work! On to next one!

Yesterday, every SMAA location showed up and represented at the highest level. The medals were incredible, but the effort, sportsmanship, and heart displayed by our WM athletes were even better.

🥈 Aaron — No Gi Silver

These results don’t happen by accident. They are built through early mornings, late nights, hard rounds, tough training sessions, and a team culture that pushes each other to improve every day.

A special shoutout to Mr. Jerry, who stepped on the mats against competitors nearly 30 years younger and still earned podium finishes in BOTH Gi and No Gi. That is toughness, grit, and determination in its purest form.

We’re incredibly proud of Kollens, Clara, Aaron, Frannie, Jerry, Mike, Beeson, Avery, and everyone who represented SMAA West Monroe. Whether you brought home gold or gained valuable experience, you helped build something special.

Yesterday wasn’t just about winning medals. It was about proving what Team SMAA is all about—hard work, humility, perseverance, and showing up for one another.

There’s something special about a room full of people choosing to do hard things.
Tonight wasn’t about medals, rankings, or who tapped who. It was about showing up after a long day of work. It was about parents making time for themselves. It was about teammates helping teammates get better. It was about growth.
The mats have a way of revealing who you are. They expose your weaknesses, test your patience, challenge your ego, and demand your best effort. But if you keep showing up, they give something back that’s hard to find anywhere else—confidence, resilience, discipline, and a belief in yourself that carries over into every area of life.
Looking around the room tonight, I saw people from different backgrounds, different ages, and different experience levels all moving toward the same goal: becoming better than they were yesterday.
That’s what makes this team special.
No shortcuts. No excuses. Just good people putting in honest work together.

What a weekend! We had people from all 3 of our locations take to the mats, all around the our great country, and do what they do best, leave it all out there and fight with their entire hearts!

From the kids, to teens, to our adults and coaches, this is what it looks like when a team comes together and works towards the same goal!

Remember team, no matter the outcome, when you step onto those competition mats you come out better on the other side! Everything you’ve ever wanted is right outside of that comfort zone! Let’s keep pushing our boundaries and get comfortable being uncomfortable!
