We held our awards ceremony for the 2023 Rebel Iron Man Competition this past Friday. This marks the 35 anniversary of the Iron Man Competition that was started by Coach Casey Sanders in 1989. Congratulations to our 2023 Top 12 Rebel Iron Man Winners!

We finished our 2022 Rebel Iron Man Competition this spring but due to state testing we weren’t able to have our normal awards ceremony. Congratulations to our 2022 Top 12 Rebel Iron Man Winners!

What an outstanding week for Rebel Football! Our inaugural Jump Start week was a huge success. 86 soon to be Freshman Rebels participated in spring training drills preparing them for their upcoming season. Next stop, summer workouts!

The 1st annual West Monroe Football Freshman Jump Start Orientation was a huge success! 82 Mustangs, Colonels, and Patriots came together and began their journey as West Monroe Rebels last night! We are so excited to see what the next 4 years hold for these young men. We expect great things from them in the seasons to come! GO REBS!

Parents of incoming 9th grade Rebel Football players! JUMP START IS COMING! Today your sons were visited by staff members of Rebel Football and given important information about the next few weeks, this summer, and the upcoming football season. They received a folder with important paperwork that needs to be turned in next Thursday night at the JUMP START parent meeting. Please carefully go over all paperwork and fill out completely. Players were also given a physical form that needs to be completed by a doctor or nurser practitioner at your earliest convenience. The JUMP START information flyer is included below. If you have any questions about anything, feel free to message us here. We can’t wait for your sons to begin their journey towards becoming West Monroe Rebel Football Players!

Congrats Chauncey Lee!!!

Week 1 of the playoffs produced more great performances. Wossman's QB Tristen Wooten threw for 372 yards and 3 scores in their upset over Amite. Jena's Tate Turnage also had 3 TDs passing for the Jena Giants. Ta'rell Simmons from Lincoln Prep accounted for 263 yards and 4 scores for the Panthers. Ouachita's Marcell Henderson ran for 143 yards and 2 touchdowns on only 12 carries. Tydre Malone (J-Hodge) threw for 266 and 5 scores for the Tigers. Trey Holly had another stellar game with 127 rushing yards, 2 scores and a 61 yard punt return TD. On defense, Sterlington's Cliff Jones had an 80 yard interception return for a score. Stephen Everfield from General Trass had 9 tackles, 2 for loss and 2 sacks while the big guy from Jonesboro-Hodge, Peyton Smith, had 12 tackles and a TFL. Lots of standouts this week but we are selecting Chauncey Lee from West Monroe. On offense, Chauncey ran for 66 yards and 3 touchdowns on 11 carries and on defense, he had 17 tackles, a forced fumble, fumble recovery and a half sack for the Rebels in their double OT win over Northshore. Congrats Chauncey on winning the IMPACT Player of the Week. with the nice 🏆

Members of the Rebel Football and Powerlifting teams along with Rebel Raiders and Cheerleaders were guest this week at George Welch Elementary School to speak to the students for Red Ribbon Week. We are thankful to be a part of being a positive influence for these future Rebels. Thanks to the George Welch administration and teachers for the opportunity. Go Wranglers and Go Rebs!

Congratulations to our very own Zach Johnson on being named the West Monroe High School student of the year! Zach is the kicker for our team and has worked countless hours to perfect his craft. This is the same work ethic he uses to approach every aspect of his time at West Monroe, so it’s no surprise to us that he is being given this honor. Great job Zach, you represent everything that being a West Monroe Rebel is about!

Congrats Jadis!

Some very strong contenders for the Week 7 Northeast Delta Human Services Authority All Star Trophies and Awards IMPACT Player of the Week. Cedar Creek’s Caden Middleton set a school record with 6 passing touchdowns. Carroll’s Zaylan Ford threw for 350 and 5 scores and added another TD on the ground. Ty’rell Simmons from Lincoln Prep threw for 227 yards and 4 scores and rushed for another 153 yards and 2 scores! Mangam WR TJ Johnson had 10 catches for 126 yards and 3 touchdowns while Tristan Wiley had 3 grabs for 159 yards and 2 scores for the OCS Eagles. Ruston’s Dyson Fields ran for 171 yards and 3 scores on the ground. While Gavin Rawls had 8 carries for 101 yards and 3 scores for D’Arbonne Woods. Ouachita’s Marcell Henderson churned for 187 yards and 2 TD’s rushing. A couple members of the Sterlington OL really excelled against Union also. On defense, Xavier Atkins from Jonesboro-Hodge keeps putting up huge numbers…18 tackles, 1 and half sacks and an interception. J’Wuan Turnner from General Trass also had a huge game with 10 tackles, 5 sacks and an interception for General Trass. West Monroe’s Brock Harvey had 6 tackles, 1 for loss and 2 sacks. Finally, Madison’s Corey Moore did everything with 2 TD on the ground, 2 on receptions, 11 tackles and 3 punts for 45 yards. Moore was awesome but West Monroe’s Ja’dais Richard was equally impressive with 13 tackles, an interception, a blocked field goal and recovered onside kickoff in the Rebels’ big 28-14 win over ASH. Great job fellas and congrats to Ja’Dais for winning the Week 7 IMPACT Player of the Week award.
