If no one is ever afraid of you, can anyone ever feel safe because of you? This is not a masculine or feminine philosophy; few things are as terrifying as a mama bear watching over her cubs. We are afraid of her, but her cubs feel safe with her.
If we never face our fears, we will be incapable of being feared. We can play nice and say respected, but the heart of respect comes from a healthy dose of fear. I am afraid of falling, so I respect the climb. -z.h.p.
